Pauline Batista: ‘Methylene Blue Dreams’ opens on Thursday the 24th 6-9 pm.

Pauline Batista’s ‘Methylene Blue Dreams’ brings together a new body of work that examines the body as a site of transformation, permeability, and control. Blurring the boundaries between organic and artificial forms, Batista constructs a speculative environment in which matter mutates and reconfigures, proposing new ways of understanding beyond fixed categories.

This event is part of the larger UK-Brazil Season of culture.

Arts and Life Science. We are starting a new collaboration with scientists from the Francis Crick Institute, artists and the wider public.

The Crick is also keen to run our Sip of Science events at Somers. These are informal, drop-in events where members of the public and interact with Crick researchers and ask questions about their work. The events are about 60 minutes long and usually run on Wednesday evenings or Thursday lunchtimes.

Muda is bringing together artists from Latin American and Caribbean diasporas in the UK, Muda explores ancestral knowledge, ritual and collective becoming through performance, video, photography, collage and sculpture.
Opening: 3 June, 6–9pm
With performances and activities throughout the evening.

Participating artists include Paloma Passetto de Souza, Inés Cardó, Vittor Camila, Caro Lestón, Diego Valente, José Cárdenas, Chandni Raithatha, Nathalia Bertazi and Danilo Zocatelli. Taken together, the artists reflect a constellation of Latin American and Caribbean diasporic practices in the UK, shaped by approaches that respond to how ancestral knowledge is translated and reactivated across communal and institutional contexts.

We delighted to invite you to the opening reception of «A Peruvian House», bringing together the work of five young contemporary Peruvian artists.

The artists featured in «A Peruvian House», working across various media (painting, sculpture,
installation), engage with the theme of the house, presenting it not as an idyllic or dogmatic space but as
a space of contested meaning – whether to reveal the veils that shroud the archives of childhood scenes
(as in the case of Fabiola Gonzáles), to introduce the uncanny into the familiar/familial (Juan Carlos
Catacora, Jorge Miranda Jaime), or to recreate and question migrante and conera identities and
memories and their resistances through painting (Ashly Gómez) and visual and sound installation (Mafer
Ortiz Ballarta).
Under the gaze of curator Matheus Calderón Torres, «A Peruvian House» brings together five young
contemporary Peruvian artists, based in Lima, Perú, in a pioneering group exhibition hosted by Somers
Gallery, a champion of Latin American art in London.
Not every house, not even the house, but just one, one of many. The challenge is not to attempt to
represent the whole, but to gain an understanding of it through cross-cutting, partial and singular
perspectives, such as those presented by these artists.

Born in Folkestone in 1984, Richie Moment lives and works in the Kent afterrelocating from London. His work explores themes of visibility, technology, and the shifting structures of contemporary life, often operating at the crossroads of satire and process. Moment completed a Postgraduate Diploma at the Royal Academy Schools (2017) and holds a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from the University of the West of England (2013).
