Shedload Theatre

Shedload Theatre Shedload is a theatre company based in East Anglia. Shedload is on facebook to show you what we are doing when it happens. What does it do? You ask. Well... art.

Its pretty much there to keep you updated in general. SHEDLOAD is a group developed by MATTHEW BARNES coming into existence with the sole intention of one day being able to afford a shed as its base of operations. SHEDLOAD started as "a shedload of theatre" then reduced to free up options, make it easier to say, and make designing logo a simpler task. I know it sounds broad, pretentious and non-sp

ecific but there is no easier way of explaining it. shedload is here to explore and investigate anything and everything, and experience the unreachable feats of true human emotions through performing, singing, jumping, laughing, crying, hurling or of course interpretive dance. So, I guess the best way is to say art and get over ourselves. What we hope is to bring something new with every performance we do and put everything creatively and humanly possible in each one. So that even if someone doesn't enjoy the show on one level they will come out amazed or moved by the other. We don't have any restrictions or constrictions on the type of show we do, the only rule we have is to push productions that we feel close to and not to do anything just for the sake of it. Hello Shedfans, both old and new!

You may have noticed we’ve been eerily quiet of late - rest-assured, we’ve not succumbed to any terrible Lovecraftian fate, nor have we been booted out of the Outlaws’ clubhouse for stealing Ginger’s boxing gloves... 🥊

We’re currently taking a bit of time out to develop a new programme of work, as well as revamp our existing shows.

We are still welcoming bookings and requests during this period - please email us at [email protected] and we’ll do our best to get back to you with all haste. We’re particularly keen to hear from any schools, clubs or youth societies who’d like to experience workshops in Drama, Foley SFX and puppetry. If you represent any such group, or know somebody that does, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

In the meantime, for those of you in the Norwich area, why not head over to nearby Beccles where our good friends Em&Em Theatre are currently showing their first production, ‘Murder Ballad’ by Juliana Nash. Visit their page for more details.

All the very best to you, and keep watching this space for more Shednews!

Many thanks to those of you who came to see us at The Old Red Lion Theatre Pub this weekend. We had such a mad, hectic, but ultimately wonderful time in bringing you The Colour out of Space.

Do check out this review from Scott Matthewman of The Reviews Hub, who rightly points to all THREE performers on stage as responsible for making it a success.

Here’s to the next one!

Writer: Matt Barnes, based on the story by H.P. Lovecraft Director: Tim Vaughan Reviewer: Scott Matthewman The Colour Out of Space is one of H P Lovecraft’s better known short stories, and its tale…

What an 'Excellent' review to end the Fringe on - not only that, but this marks the end of our 2018 tour! It's been a highly eventful and enjoyable year, performing at some amazing venues filled to the brim with happy, cheery and encouraging audiences. A big thank you to everyone who came to see the show; your continued support made our journey this year possible and we are grateful to each and every one of you.

However, all that we've done could not have been without our stellar cast, to whom we must give bucket loads (nay, SHEDloads) of gratitude for bringing 'Just William's Luck' to life! Greg, Thomas, Davey, Jonathan and Louise - you've worked your paint-splattered school socks off. Enjoy the success, rest and planning for what we hope will be equally fulfilling next projects. 'Just William II' perhaps? Who knows...

To everyone else, we'll see you in the autumn for our next bout of work, which is fast-approaching! We can't wait for the next chapter - if it's half as good as the previous we'll be well on our way.

Cheers all.
