The Great British Bake Off Musical Auditions!

We are looking for three fantastic male actors to play the parts of:

Dezza: a laid-back, vegan hipster in his 30s who lives on a canal boat. He brings a unique, eco-conscious approach to baking, often substituting traditional ingredients with plant-based alternatives, much to the confusion of the other contestants.

Ben: a widowed policeman in his 30s or 40s from Bristol, raising his young daughter, Lily, on his own. He joined the competition reluctantly, after Lily secretly applied for him, hoping to help him heal from the loss of his wife.

Phil Hollinghurst: a handsome Liverpudlian baker in his 40s or 50s. Known for his stern demeanor, Phil is famous for his handshakes, which signify excellence in baking. He takes his role as a judge very seriously, and his sharp eye for detail makes him a tough critic.

We are also looking to cast the part of Lily. Playing age is 9, however, we ask that applicants be at least 13 years of age.

Auditions will be on Monday 2nd February 19:30 onwards at Chesterton Scout Hut.

Our friends over at Between the Bars are putting on a production of Hadestown: Teen Edition at the ADC Cambridge from 14 to 17 January.

This full length Teen Edition of Anaïs Mitchell’s intriguing and beautiful folk opera follows two intertwining love stories – that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and of immortals King Hades and Lady Persephone – and invites audiences on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Inspired by traditions of classic American folk music and vintage New Orleans jazz, Mitchell’s beguiling sung-through musical pits industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love.

Hadestown: Teen Edition features a cast of 14 young performers, many of whom have appeared in previous CTC youth productions.

Directed by Cat Nicol with musical direction from Sam Kirby and movement direction by Frances Sayer.

Don’t miss this celebrated musical, brought to you by the producers of Amélie and Unfolding. Suitable for ages 8 and over.
