Real Families at the is an absolute must see.

A disparate collection of over 120 mixed media artworks born out of the research of and curated by Susan Golombok from the Centre for Family Research it explores, beautifully, carefully, brazenly and sometimes painfully the concept of family and how it has changed.

It’s the first show I’ve seen where the existing collection of paintings mix with curated new works so seamlessly and this, I think, is due to it’s timeless theme.

The kids came away with such interesting questions and thoughts on the show I’d really recommend going!

Massively fangirled when I realised Susan Golombok was sitting behind the kids who were listening to ’s piece and so happy to see ’s work for reals for the first time too. It was the best.

BIG NEWS... We are so pleased to say we have opened our second Community PopUpScience Centre in Cambridge.

Today, we have opened a new Centre in the Grafton Centre. Aimed at pre-schoolers from 0-5 years, this new PopUp will be open every day during the week from 9.30am to 4pm and will be free to enter. Each day will offer a mix of free discovery play and STEM-based activities.

So, why not come along with your toddlers, and inspire them to think like an inventor, engineer, or scientist!

The Fulbourn Fen Oak almost moved me to tears today (feeling a bit emo 🖤) how many snows has it seen in its lifetime? How many children have played under its branches? Why did some idiots spray paint the peace sign and a massive spliff on its trunk?!

said to get my face out in the sun, so I did just that. I wish I’d worn two pairs of socks despite my furry boots but we made snow angels and got warm by stomping around. So this is your public service announcement to get your face in the sun because it feels great ☀️

An absolutely magical evening spent with the eldest exploring the multi-sensory Anglesey Abbey winter lights, made even more special by the snow!

Hats, gloves, thermals etc essential but it totally beats the usual UK drizzle! The two spots to grab a mulled wine, coffee or in our case warm waffle were very welcome. Sadly, we had a to zip round in under an hour as we had to get back in time for cubs but I could have stayed for hours ‘til I couldn’t feel my toes!

Bringing the illustrations of Jackie Morris and the words of Rob MacFarlane to life and light, this year’s winter display has to be my favourite yet…I’m a bit worried that the local wildlife is terribly confused though!

I must also shout out the volunteers keeping the car parking in check, helping guide people round and being generally cheerful all deserve a medal for being such legends 🏅

I’m behind on e.ve.ry.thing Who’s with me?

I wanted to post about some of the great stuff that’s happening around Cambridge in the following weeks but I just haven’t had the chance to thanks to small paws in the corner of this photo!

Instead, for now, I want to do a quick shoutout to David & Lucy at the independent for sending my order so promptly. Not Cambridge based (if only!) but you can grab a good selection of their beautiful, bold & bright home-wear, lifestyle stuff and stationary online. So many great stocking fillers too!

The bags (which have different colours each side 😍)are made by David’s mum and loads of the stationary sets are made up in store (I’ve added a few screenshots of some of our faves.)

Meant to take more pictures but little mobile one kept me too busy but what a TRIUMPH!

We started the morning at Kreepie Krawlies softplay at the Scout Hut (I’d forgotten how good soft play all on one level could be) and then spent a wonderful time trying out all the new, beautifully crafted play equipment on the rec. The space has been so well thought out and I could see my older two having as much fun there as the little one. And not a plastic pirate ship in sight!

I was glad to see that the little metal horse I rode on as a kid was still there too by the bandstand ❤️

Could this beeeeee any more Easter? 🐣 My eldest left Hundred River Farm & Maze saying it had been one of THE best days of his life.

We hunted bugs, made seed bombs, fed lambs, pigs and goats, we played in the mud kitchen, we cuddled chickens, chicks and guinea pigs and even an enormous rooster, we met ducks and a turkey who escaped the Christmas dinner, all under the brilliant tutorage of Jackie.

Jackie grew up on the farm and has a background in early years and outdoor play based learning. Her and her family’s mission is to spread awareness of the ‘environmental damage caused by the wrong type of farming and to equip future generations with a better understanding of the consequences of our food choices on the environment.’

Not Cambridge based but if you’re visiting Cambridge on Sea (AKA Southwold) in the summer then I highly recommend you book yourself in a visit!

I forgot how annoying exhibitions are with a toddler! But the staff were lovely and I’ll go back another day to truly appreciate the brilliant and cleverly curated show.

The highlight for me were .hockney ‘How to make flowers last’ which he sent to friends digitally (just the kind of NFT I’d like please!) and Time Travel in the video room which I first saw with my Ma at the 💚

Go Cambridge people, it’s great, maybe not with toddlers but children above or below the age of needing to touch everything/lick everything/shout at everything.
