To all the silkies, hoopers, ropers... the handbalancers and back benders.. the upwardly, backwardly mobile pole climbing, climbers...
I keep seeing posts from doing amazing things. Unusual shapes at unusual heights. Rigging from trees, climbing without mats, equipment waving beautifully in the spring wind.. bodies making shapes that are sooo beautiful.. and yet....
I'm working in a place where families are separated so medical professionals can stay at work. People are pulling 12 hour shifts for more days in a row than you could probably ever manage. Some of my colleagues are already sick and most are terrified about what is happening around us. I'm not even going to talk about PPE. You know the issues we face.
If you hurt yourself whilst practicing your skill now... nobody will sympathise with you. The medical team who may have to care for you will try to be kind and, if are lucky, they will only silently resent you with your totally preventable injury at a time when people are dying.. but they will not be impressed by you in the slightest.
I understand. You're frustrated. You're bored. You're strong and you feel safe.
What about the people who see your post and copy you? Are they strong enough? Where is your spotter in that shot? Did you have a crash mat out of view? They're a bu**er to store aren't they? Do you really all have one??
Condition. Work your flex- safely. Run( I know, I hate it too). Do a million press ups... but stop doing ANYTHING that might put you at risk... and stop posting it on Facebook or Instagram for other people to copy.
The image here includes the 2 children I am trying to protect everyday when I go to work... please help me and every other medical professional out there trying our best to provide a service to keep you safe. Thank you.❤❤❤
