* someone from the Cambridge LGBT+ community needs your help*
Aisha, who has lived in Cambridge for 13 years, and is originally from Uganda, is an LGBT+ asylum seeker. Her asylum application was refused a week ago.
She appealed this, expecting a few months to put her case together before her hearing (usual time frame), but learned yesterday that her pre-hearing has been rushed forward to the 27th February.
If she is deported back to Uganda she faces serious danger.
We have very little time and need help urgently with 2 things:
1) We need to write letters of support for Aisha because the home office don't believe her. If you have any sort of LGBT+ position or similar then you are especially helpful (LGBT+ college JCR and MCR reps for example). For this you will need to meet her for a bit. We need the letters for this Friday, so please if you are free any day from today until Friday to meet her, get in touch.
2) We need to raise £1600 to pay for the solicitor as there is no time to get legal aid. Donate here please:
