Qobol's mother issues a public statement just after the assassination attempt (very fast - as if pre-prepared), which is transmitted by The Bulletin. "We absolutely refuse to believe the rumour that Hürrem Vanna was behind the attempt on the life of my thirty seventh child. Rumours that Hürrem was unhappy with her marriage match are entirely unsubstantiated, and we cannot believe for a moment that the daughter of any strong, loyal Zenithian family would act in this way. The Din Hrama family, and all of the Zenithian families, stand united in support of the Vanna family, against these scurrilous accusations." (Nobody except her has actually made any such allegations, of course.)

Qobol's Din Hrama's mother is behind the deliberately inept assassination attempt. She assumed Qobol probably wouldn't be killed - but even if he was inadvertently shot, that would be acceptable. A small physical risk to one of her sons was better than a certainty of him marrying into an embarrassingly feeble family. And anyway, she has another 40 children.

She then summons Qobol, and tells him to break off the betrothal. "With such a shadow hanging over the match, we cannot proceed. Whoever you marry must be undoubtedly above reproach." Despite he and Hürrem both being quite smitten with each other, he agrees.

Even if the PCs tell him that his mother set the whole thing up, he is still inclined to break off the marriage. "For my mother to go to such lengths, she must have excellent reasons, even if she does not choose to tell me."

The forthcoming Blood Tree Kickstarter will have not one but two Foundry modules - courtesy of the folks at Hod Publishing ( https://hodpub.com/ ), who already maintain the official Coriolis TTH module for Free League. :-)

Let's let the cat out of the bag. Or the Ekilibri out of the bag, perhaps.

The forthcoming Coriolis "Blood Tree" Kickstarter is now "The Blood Tree / Across the Horizon". Because it's now a two book set. Because it's going to include a Players' Guide for Coriolis - everything that a new player needs to jump into their first one-shot, and everything a veteran needs to develop a long-term campaign character.

The book has two authors - Kevin Hassall (Gift of the Wind Dragon, Quiet Victories, etc.) and Erik Åhlin (Fate of Shamshir, Veterans of the Horizon). And it includes everything previously published in Veterans of the Horizon, Quiet Victories and Combat Elite, plus a ton that is completely new, forming a single reference book for players, new and old.

Among the many communities of the sprawling city of The Conglomerate, are the unassuming K'vei. A Humanite community of some thousands of people, their main interests are in running their businesses, working hard, helping each other, celebrating their gratitude to their Zenithian saviours, and perfecting the tattoos that cover their bodies.

There's no reason to be suspicious of this group. They can't even be considered a Minor Faction - since that would imply that they have an agenda or that some directing commander lurks behind them. But they have no agenda. And nobody is pulling their strings. Right....?

This is one of the Conglomerate communities that we've detailed in The Blood Tree.
