CAMBOIS ART EXHIBITION 2026

It's time to submit your work 🥰

We are excited to welcome work from artists in South East Northumberland, this could be photography, sculptures, wood work, glass, crochet, drawings or anything else that your talented hands may have made.

The exhibition will take place on 10th and 11th October, 10-4pm. Artists can sell their work free of commission if they would like to do so.

To apply, please send the following to our email at [email protected]:

- image of your work
- dimensions and materials used
- a paragraph about yourself and your work

You can submit several works, depending on levels of submission we may not be able to display all of them, but we will let you know if this is the case.

Submission are open until 20th September, so everyone will be contacted by 25th September to confirm their place in the exhibition.

We can't wait to see what our local artists have in store!

Here we are - 5 years exactly since we had our first dance group session. Todays Tute Troupe is a force of joy, creativity and support to reckon with. (a few of us missing in the picture)

Thank you to Becca our wonderful volunteer who reminded us of the anniversary and made individual certificates and trophy for everyone.

Here is to many more years and dances!

CAMBOIS ART EXHIBITION 2026

Ready to treat ourselves to a local feast of talent, this years exhibition will take place on 10th & 11th October.

Anyone interested in exhibiting their work - this can be prints, drawings, carvings, metal work, crochet...and surprise us with anything else... - We can't wait to see what you have in store!

How to submit your art work: At the end of August we’ll sound the art claxon and ask you to send in a photo of the work and dimensions, alongside a brief description of the work and a little bit about you by the 20th of September. Please don’t start emailing your art work in until September.

I want to pay tribute to everyone involved in the Town of Culture bids for Ashington, Bedlington and Blyth.

With almost 400 entries from across the country, reaching the final 15 was always going to be a huge challenge. But every single person who stepped forward to support, contribute and champion these bids should be incredibly proud.

Our communities and our culture deserve to be celebrated loud and proud. From the Pitmen Painters and Blyth Carnival to Bedlington Family Festival, our music, our dialect, our heritage and, most importantly, our people tell a story worth sharing.

While we may not have made the shortlist, this is far from the end of the road. With Pride in Place in Blyth, Borderlands projects in Newbiggin and Bedlington, and the ongoing town centre redevelopment in Ashington, there is so much to look forward to.

This isn't the end of the story – it's the start of a new chapter. Our proud past, vibrant present and exciting future continue to give us every reason to believe in the potential of our towns. ❤️

Sad to say we didn't make the shortlist for Town Of Culture Competition but we're still really chuffed we entered for Bedlington! It's important for places like ours to make the case that we're interested in culture too and while it was a boat load of work filling in the application, valiantly supported by John Batey, it was worth doing to make that point to the government!

Well done to the nearest town to be shortlisted - Stockton! We'll be rooting for you and coming to visit when you get culturing!

Wee update - we're having a challenging time securing funding for Rude Health this year, unfortunately the Shared Prosperity fund which replaced EU funding has now ended, we submitted a bid to Arts Council England who have rejected our application which means it wont be possible to make it happen in the autumn like we have for the last two years. However we persevere and will re-apply while looking for other funding options to make it possible early 2027.

This means we have a bit more breathing space in the autumn so our Cambois Art Exhibition will now be a few weeks later than planned - Saturday 10th/11th October - mark your calendar!

As part of our bid for town of culture we can submit a postcard with an image and a message from Bedlington - post your favourite image and what you’d say in the comments here! Be as creative as you can!

The postcard will be shared by the government and entered into national museum!

CAMBOIS ART EXHIBITION!

We are excited to announce that this year's Cambois Art Exhibition will take place on 26th/27th September 2026.

Last year truly surpassed any expectation of local talent and people coming out to witness it all. We are determined to build on this success, and cant wait to see what our talented community has on offer. So, keep your eyes peeled on how and when to submit your art work. We cant wait to see and curate it all!!

We’re very excited to announce this new mega project - we’re going to be reopening the orange silos at the end of north Blyth as a new tourist hot spot. All three silos will be utilised in a unique way to celebrate Blyth’s heritage and point Cambois toward the future.

The three giant orange tanks will all have different destinations - one converted into a roller rink, another an Ibiza style foam party and the closest to us will become the ‘museum of fencing’ showcasing the best of palisade and industrial architecture.

The trainline will reopen and will bring visitors to the end of North Blyth where a complimentary welcome carvery will be served. The car park will be closed to camper vans while the potholes are fitted with jets and re-opened as jacuzzi/hot-spring hybrids. Let’s put North Blyth back on the map - yes we alcan!

We're throwing our hat in the ring! The Tute is leading the bid for BEDLINGTON TOWN OF CULTURE 2026. We're working with West Bedlington Town Council and East Bedlington Parish Council to submit an expression of interest for the 3 million pound prize of UK Town of Culture.
