Antonio Forcione music is back at Calstock Arts 🎸

The Guardian called him "one of the great acoustic guitarists". Paul McCartney praised his "beautiful touch". On Friday 30 October, you can hear why, right here in the Old Chapel.

Antonio's music blends Mediterranean melody with African, Brazilian, jazz and classical influences. He's played Montreux, Glastonbury and WOMAD, and shared stages with Phil Collins, Bobby McFerrin and Angélique Kidjo. Expect intimate moments, rhythmic fire and plenty of improvisation, all in a beautiful setting on the banks of the Tamar.

Half term is looming! 🐱⚓

Make sure the kids have a fun day out planned that doesn’t depend on the weather. Theatrix Arts are back at Calstock Arts on Thursday 29 October with "The Dreaming’s of Captain Cat", a fabulous puppet show for ages 3 to 11.

When a mighty storm washes a mysterious book up on the beach, it opens up Tref Cath, the village of dreams, where everyone is a cat. Set sail on the seven seas with Captain Cat and his crew, make Welsh cakes with Jack Black Cat, help Farmer Catkins count his sheep, and sing along with Mog Morgan and The Groovy Cats.

After the show, children can meet Captain Cat and make their very own Captain Cat puppet to take home. Refreshments are available during puppet making too.

Inspired by the works of Dylan Thomas and perfect for the whole family.

Soul-blues from the heart of Memphis, right here on the Tamar 🎸

This Saturday, 24 October, UK Blues Hall of Famer Oli “Mississippi” MacDonald brings his band to the Old Chapel.

Mac is a four-time UK Blues Award winner who has recorded in Memphis with Hi Rhythm (Al Green’s band), played Jazzfest New Orleans and headlined at Glastonbury.

Expect a rich, soulful voice, stunning guitar and a whole lot of feeling.

Tonight at the Old Chapel 🎬

The Lost Boys of Carbis Bay follows a group of Cornish mine explorers who’ve spent over 30 years descending shafts, wading through flooded tunnels and squeezing through forgotten workings. Underground, they’ve found friendship, release and a lifeline for their mental health.

Directed by Dan Simpkins, it won Best Adventure and Exploration Film at Kendal Mountain Festival 2025.

Saturday night folk at the Old Chapel 🎻

Tarren are bringing their brand of New-Folk to Calstock Arts this Saturday, 17 October.

This Bristol trio take English traditional music and give it a fresh, modern pulse. Expect cittern, concertina, fiddle and accordion, with original songs sitting alongside reworked traditional tunes, all built around the beat of traditional dance.

Between them, Sid Goldsmith, Alex Garden and Danny Pedler have played with Awake Arise, The Drystones and Pedler // Russell. Tradfolk called them “a mini folk supergroup”, and their debut album REVEL has drawn comparisons with Faustus and Lau.

If you love folk, or you’re curious where it’s heading next, this is one to catch.

Thank you so much to Anna and Brendan (The Lantivet Duo) for a delightful concert last night at Calstock Arts.

The audience thoroughly enjoyed the diverse range of music from Mozart to Bluegrass to their own original compositions, all played with such enthusiasm and joy.

Thirty years underground. 🔦

The Carbis Bay Crew have spent three decades exploring Cornwall's forgotten mines. They drop down deep shafts, wade through chest-high water and squeeze through tunnels most of us would never go near.

But this isn't just an adrenaline film. For these men, the mines are a lifeline. It's where they leave everyday pressure behind, lean on each other and come back up feeling lighter.

The Lost Boys of Carbis Bay is a moving documentary about friendship, self-discovery and men's mental health. Directed by Dan Simpkins and filmed over two years, it won Best Adventure and Exploration Film at Kendal Mountain Festival 2025.

This Sunday at Calstock Arts 🎻🎹

Lantivet Duo bring their violin and piano to the Old Chapel on Sunday 11 October. They're a little different from your usual classical duo.

Cornish violinist Anna Brigham and Scottish pianist Brendan Musk take a classical piece and dig into what inspired the composer. Then they write their own music and arrange folk tunes around it. Bach and Mozart sit alongside Bulgarian dances, Cornish-inspired originals like Dozmary Pool, and an Imogen Heap arrangement.

Between them they've played with the Philharmonia and Björk, and on stages from the Royal Albert Hall to Ronnie Scott's. Classic FM called them "one of the best things to see."

It's a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon, with tea, coffee and cake in the interval.
