HOW MANY SONGS CAN WE RECORD IN A DAY?!?!🤔🤔
This is one of the most common questions we receive when bands and artists book studio time. The answer depends on your goals, but here are the two main approaches: 🎚️🎛️
1. High-volume recording (e.g., 6–8 songs per day)
It is technically possible to track multiple songs in a single day by having the full band play live together with minimal overdubs. However, this leaves very little time for tone exploration, arrangement adjustments, or creative production decisions. The result is essentially a live recording rather than a polished production. While this can be useful for demos or reference tracks, it rarely produces the professional standard needed to compete with commercial releases.
2. Quality-focused recording (1 song per day minimum)
Allowing at least one full day per song creates a relaxed, creative environment where everyone can perform at their best. This approach provides ample time for thoughtful production choices, experimentation with song arrangements, building layers, and dialing in the right guitar, bass, and vocal tones.
My Recommendation
In my experience, dedicating two days per song consistently delivers the strongest results. This extra time allows us to truly bring out the best in the musicians and the material, resulting in recordings that feel polished, intentional, and competitive.
If you’re planning a studio session soon, I encourage you to think carefully about what your songs deserve. Investing the right amount of time in the studio is one of the most important decisions you can make to ensure your music reaches its full potential.
