Background
For far to long this region has been forgotten in so many ways. We have excellent colleges where you can study medicine, farming, business studies, hairdressing beauty therapy and much more. The one thing that comes across, seems to be the lack of ability for others to believe, not only in what they can achieve as individuals but also, The Town of Stranraer itself, and promote it, in its own right.
For this proposal for the building in Stranraer, we will call it the "Stranraer Arts & Digital Hub"

Our academic background ..
Myself Alastair Campbell and my Fiancée Janet McDonald have been trying to promote this region for many years, using social media, i.e. using Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. We have two hashtag's which were created by us and used by us, these are and .
Alastair holds a BTEC National Diploma in Media, Film and Television Production.
We feel there is a need for local people to be creative and be able to promote and produce art work, in all forms, whether it be digital, written, paining or by any other means.
Be able to print materials and display the art for a short time for a fee that will be invested back into the project. The Stranraer Arts & Digital Hub is just that. It brings the Arts together under one roof.
There can be a display area for local art, open to the public, both locals and tourists alike.
There can be a creative writing area, where it can link to networking with other members and projects within the area/areas, such as the creation of the music development within Stranraer, song writing, ect.
The Ryan Centre can be used for script/play writing and also small screen productions. Anything is possible, if we all believe.
Whether you are a poet or a copy writer, a novelist or a screen writer, a journalist or a blogger.
The Stranraer Writing Hub will be the place to be.
Stranraer Writing Hub is a writing development project that will be started to provide writers across the region with opportunities to network, develop, publish and perform. The Stranraer Writing Hub will have online resources on their website and via social media, i.e. Facebook & Twitter.
The hub is an umbrella group for the Dumfries & Galloway, South West Scotland Writing Hub Scotland and UK. The Stranraer Writing Hub is part of the Stranraer Art & Digital Hub.
The group can also run writer’s workshops, some of which will be free. These have included a free 3-week fun writing course for Mum’s with under 5s; One-off Taster/Refresher creative writing workshops with a professional writer; a Four-week course comprising (two hour workshops, one evening a week), a creative writing course for beginners through to advanced writer’s and a series of Professional Development workshops.
Another hub project is the free online ‘Your Writing’ area where writers can join a community who will read written work and provide feedback.
This community is moderated by a panel of peer experts drawn from creative writing groups in Dumfries & Galloway and across the UK, to ensure feedback is constructive, relevant and useful.
There is also a YouTube channel that will be featuring live-writing performance from the region’s novelists, short-story writers, poets and musicians so you can find out all about us, the writers of the Stranraer Arts & Digital Hub.
Digital media production area
Image a digital media production area, for printing materials produced by the hub project and also a Digital video editing suite hub, to help people learn new skills and provide a platform for digital media production, filming in HD and 4K and networking with local photography projects.
Create films like a pro using the multi-track timeline and video montage tools. Split, join, crop, rotate video clips, and add a little Hollywood with special effects and creative transitions.
Create films in HD and 4K.
Film by Drone.
Create video tutorials, demo videos, etc, and share your video masterpieces online.
Full-featured video editor with special effects, filters, transitions, multiple tracks
Video capture and recording: record screencasts, online video.
Media conversion: 180+ formats and presets for 200+ mobile devices.
Burn CD, DVD, and Blu-ray.
Play back video and audio; share media files online.
Building a library of images and sounds from across the region and producing promotional materials for the region, which can be used across is own media channels created by the hub for the benefit of all of the community.
i.e. YouTube channel reaching thousands of people.
Overall, we believe that the people have the required experience and skill to undertake the project and move it forward for the benefit of the community as a whole.
