Meet Kida! ๐Ÿพ

This fabulously fluffy young lady visited us for her puppy vaccines, isn't she just beautiful!

We have a sneaky suspicion those carry-in cuddles won't last much longer as you grow into your magnificent self, Kida, so we will make the most of them while we can !

We can't wait to see you again soon. ๐Ÿถ

๐Ÿšฉ One of the biggest warning signs isn't a specific behaviour - it's a sudden change in behaviour.

If your normally sociable pet suddenly hides...
If your energetic dog no longer wants to play...
If your food-loving cat stops eating...
If your calm pet becomes unusually grumpy.....it's worth paying attention.

Behaviour changes are often one of the earliest signs that something isn't right.

They don't always mean a serious problem, but they do deserve investigation.

As a general rule:

โœ”๏ธ Know what's normal for your pet.
โœ”๏ธ Notice what's changed.
โœ”๏ธ If you're unsure, don't wait - contact a vet for advice.

Your pet's behaviour is their way of communicating. The sooner we listen, the sooner we can help.

๐ŸŽ‰ Happy 1 Year Anniversary, Daisy! ๐ŸŽ‰

Today marks one year since Daisy joined the Live Well Vets team, and what a fantastic addition she has been. ๐Ÿ’—

Daisy is always willing to help โ€” whether thatโ€™s supporting a colleague, sharing her knowledge, stepping in when someone needs a hand, or taking the extra time to make sure our clients and their pets feel listened to and cared for.

Her kindness, professionalism and genuine team spirit have made such a difference over the last year, and weโ€™re very lucky to have her as part of the team.

Thank you for everything you bring to the team, Daisy. Hereโ€™s to many more years! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’š

Happy 1 year with Live Well Vets! ๐ŸŽ‚โœจ

Just a little reminder, we're closed today for the public bank holiday! ๐Ÿ”†

Our teams are (hopefully) taking a well-deserved rest, with an ice cream in hand (weather permitting). We hope you're making the most of it too.๐Ÿฆ

We'll be back open as normal tomorrow, but if your pet needs any assistance in the meantime, just give your nearest Live Well Vets practice a call and you'll be directed straight through to our out-of-hours provider. ๐Ÿพ

โค๏ธ Growing older doesn't just change how pets look - it can change how they behave too.

As pets age, you may notice they:

๐Ÿพ Sleep more
๐Ÿพ Become less playful
๐Ÿพ Seem confused at times
๐Ÿพ Become more vocal
๐Ÿพ Struggle with stairs or jumping
๐Ÿพ Prefer quieter places

While some changes are a normal part of ageing, others could be linked to conditions like arthritis, reduced vision or hearing, cognitive decline or other health problems.

Don't assume your pet is "just getting old."

Many age-related conditions can be managed successfully when recognised early, helping your pet stay comfortable and enjoy a great quality of life.

Fun Fact Friday ๐Ÿพ

Did you know the elephant's trunk contains over 40,000 muscles? That's more than the entire human body!

Known scientifically as the proboscis, the trunk is actually a fusion of the upper lip and nose, making it one of nature's most extraordinary anatomical features.

Those 40,000+ muscles are arranged into distinct groups, giving the trunk an incredible range of movement, from hoisting heavy logs to delicately picking up something as small as a single berry.

But it doesn't stop there. The trunk also houses a series of airways, allowing elephants to breathe, pick up scents from miles away, and communicate with their herd. It's their feeding tool, drinking straw, shower head and social megaphone all rolled into one.

Nature really does know how to engineer something special. ๐Ÿ˜

We don't use the word "diva" lightly, but Dottie earned it the second she strutted into our Whitchurch practice!๐Ÿ“ธ

She made her P.A. stop by for her flea and worm treatment, and made absolutely sure the whole team knew she'd arrived. Her health regimes are very important to her. Every single one of us was smitten.

Come back soon, Dottie! ๐Ÿถ

๐Ÿ˜Œ Stress doesn't always look obvious.

Just like people, pets experience stress differently.

Some become more active... Others become quieter.

Common signs can include:

๐Ÿพ Pacing
๐Ÿพ Panting (when they're not hot)
๐Ÿพ Excessive grooming
๐Ÿพ Hiding
๐Ÿพ Restlessness
๐Ÿพ Barking or vocalising more
๐Ÿพ Changes in appetite
๐Ÿพ Toileting indoors

Stress can be triggered by things like moving house, new family members, fireworks, holidays, visitors or changes to routine.

Understanding what's causing the behaviour is the first step towards helping your pet feel safe and comfortable again.

If stress-related behaviours continue, our team can help identify whether there's an underlying medical issue or discuss ways to support your pet.
