WE WON!!

Honestly and genuinely, completely and utterly blown away that PIG IN A GINNEL won both the Audience Prize and the Jury Prize, at this afternoon’s Buxton Shorts.

Thank you so much to Buxton Film for putting on this wonderful event. Congratulations to all the other entrants for making such a rich and wonderful variety of films. And thank you also to Buxton Festival Fringe for another terrific Fringe. 🧡🧡

So many thanks to Buxton Film for organising this fabulous showcase (11 short films - 11!!) and to Buxton Festival Fringe for such a terrific Fringe this year. It’s been an absolute blast.

No matter who wins all the awards tomorrow (but please come and vote for us!!), we couldn’t be prouder of our film and we’d like to give one last massive shout out to all the people who made it happen. Without any single one of them, the whole thing would have fallen to pieces.

BUXTON SHORTS, THIS SUNDAY!

In Buxton, no-one is above the lore..

Teacher Annie Norton is increasingly perturbed by her new colleague Luke, as he barges into her world, belittles his students and despoils the town that she loves so much.

She gives him a chance; he dismisses her warnings as foolish Old Wives’ Tales.

But soon enough, the fabric of the town starts to wind around Luke, binding him in ways that he struggles to understand.

Annie and her student Will appeal one last time to his better nature but, preoccupied and fearful, he brushes them aside, blowing his last chance of escape. Finally, inevitably, Luke runs headlong into a trap of his own making. With no way out.

PIG IN A GINNEL will be part of Buxton Film’s short film showcase on Sunday at the Pavilion Arts Centre. This film was made in Buxton and everybody involved, from the clapperboard operator to the music composer, is from the local area.
