So it appears that a campaign will be started tomorrow to try and steal our intellectual property. When we took over the Hunter Club and Doodle Bar in 2009, it was little more than a village hall. Since then, we built a brand and created the club you all know today.

Before we were evicted under false pretences so the landlords could assume our identity, we took steps to protect the brand we created, and our trademark was officially granted.

Now, it appears that in addition to assuming our identity, the landlords want our intellectual property as well. Our goal has never been to destroy what we created or harm the Bury scene.

Here’s another before and after.

It’s hard to believe how far it came. The Green room was once a tired old office, but the team who created what became a vibrant, independent music and arts venue, thanks to years of hard work, determination, and reinvesting every penny back into the building.

We’re incredibly proud of what was created a true community asset that gave so much to so many.

It may have taken us a few years, (16 years) but we transformed what was once little more than a village hall into a thriving independent music venue.

Every single penny we had was reinvested into the building, creating not just a venue, but a genuine community asset that brought people together through music, art and culture.

Sadly, we’re no longer around to continue that journey, but we’re incredibly proud of what was achieved and of the legacy that remains. Here’s a look at the before and after.

There seems to be some confusion circulating about the recent changes to the studio at the Hunter Club.

To clarify: N Hunter had provided written permission for part of the studio to be removed. However, this appears to have been done without a full understanding that the studio was structurally and functionally built around that element.

As a result, the outcome has had a far greater impact on the studio as a whole than was likely intended.

For clarity, none of the Hunter Club CIC were involved in the removal of fixtures.

It’s important that discussions around this are based on the full context rather than partial information.

We’re into the final couple of weeks trading as The Hunter Club Arts Centre — the club as you know it is coming to an end.

We’re open from 6pm tonight (Wednesday) and all weekend.

We’ve still got bills to pay, and we’re determined to clear every last one. Our staff are also looking to get as many hours in as possible before they move on, So come down, grab a b**r, and support the team.

Let’s celebrate 16 years of making memories the only way we know how 🍻

EDIT: On the 3rd March the owners of the Hunter Club Arts Centre were told after 16 years trading from the site the site were told they would not have access from the 1/4/26.

We have had no further official communication from the Landlords about the future of the site since then. All we know is what’s been printed in the press. Thank you all for your continued support.
