Yesterday...
PV of the Open 2026 at in Cambridge.
Always a fantastic group of photographers to show with, in a unconventional space, with a truly democratised hanging style. Im a massive fan of the newsprint and tape hang, and while its not to everyone's taste I think the Shutter Hub signature style has opened up a lot of doors to the way contemporary photography is viewed. By nurturing digital submissions, that are affordable, with no print costs, the collective is able to work with a wide demographic of international photographers. Some new to the scene, some more established. Beautifully curated by , the exhibition is well worth a look if you are in the area. While it seems like the world is in chaos, these glimmers share some very real, unique and thoughtful moments, offer a positive reflection of the bredth of contemporary photography in 2026.

I'm very pleased learn that some of my latest photography will be featured in the upcoming Shutter Hub publication 'Home'.

'Home can be found in a person or a memory, in a place or a feeling.

The holding of hands, the warmth of a smile, a sentiment, or sense of belonging. The comfort of home doesn’t always come with four walls.

Home can be anything, anywhere.'

As someone who works remotely, largely from 'home' my photography tends to record the everyday, and moments of passing change within the natural world. Taking time to record this minutia is largely my way of taking time away from work and other distractions, in an almost meditative act of observing and recording. A sort-of recording of gratitude if you will...

I'm absolutely thrilled to launch a new film today 'Behind the Scenes at the Phil'.

Working with client, CAMBRIDGE PHILHARMONIC and the brilliant film maker Jordan Grant, I produced the project and will be handling the PR and marketing of this 6 minute film. A massively rewarding outcome and a fantastic crew of people to work with. Thank you all.

Recorded at the rehearsal for the concert 'The Rite of Spring' the film delves into the world of community centric orchestra and chorus Cambridge Philharmonic.

Listen to their conductor and Music Director, Harry Sever, talk about the power of an orchestral performance and the 'blood, sweat and tears of the art'. Hear from the members as they explain their roles, passions and joy for performing with this musical family.

An afternoon in Cambridge at the Shutter Hub Open 2025 in the Alison Richard Building. A faculty building, so in daily use, but with 4 floors of expansive wall space to utilise. The show features over 100 selected international photographers, promoting the future of photography through diverse and creative imagery, but also a destigmatisation of the medium in the sense that every image was printed onto the same sized newsprint, simply taped to the wall. Beautiful curation, and much credit goes to the Shutter Hub team. Personally I find it worthwhile showing in a living, breathing space, rather than a formal gallery, questioning the 'purpose' of the work, it's intention and the sharing of ideas and visual imagery in a public workspace, with new audiences and chance engagement. My own work was one image from a series taken at local community space for young people, Romsey Mill. Working with the young parents project we co-construced images based on the ideas of daily rituals and personal care. A simple image of plaited hair... A daily essential for one mother who recognised and wanted to represent major changes in her life since having a child. It was also good to re visit a book cover photo, used for the publication 'Everyday Delights', published by Shutter Hub. It's rewarding to see my work in print, and that photo always evokes that glorious, hot day in Norfolk. Bliss. The exhibition continues until 21 March. www.shutterhub.org.uk

From 13 January – 21 March 2025, the Shutter Hub OPEN 2025 will bring together over 100 international photographers in a selected exhibition promoting the future of photography through diverse and creative imagery – taking over four floors of the ARB building at Cambridge University, transforming the space and covering the walls with hundreds of images printed by our favourite newspaper print partners Newspaper Club.
