Today was the last Meet the Makers fair for 2025 and it’s the last fair we’ll be organising - it’s time to hang up the hat and concentrate on Yvie’s Imaginarium.

It’s been a fab day and we’d like to thank all the small businesses that have joined us on the journey. You’ve been great and we wish you all the very best for the future🥰.

We never intended to be fair organisers - it was a happy accident but, with Imaginarium becoming busier and attending more events, it’s become increasingly difficult to juggle the demands of organising fairs and for Tania to grow her business.

It’s been an amazing experience - similar to a roller coaster ride (😂) but we wouldn’t have missed it for the world. Hopefully there’s someone out there who can pick up the reins and continue to support local makers.

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this adventure😊.

Do you ever have days when you wonder why you bother???????????????? Today has been one of those days for us 😔.

The Octagon Shopping Centre in Burton, despite inviting us to organise two events for them, have told us that all events booked with them for 2025 are now cancelled. Seemingly there are concerns over health and safety issues with the centre’s people capacity. Where do you go with that?🤷‍♀️. We have tried to find a solution but nobody’s listening - seemingly, the instruction has come from their Scotland office.

With one of the events just over a week away, we now have 26 amazing traders without a venue. We feel so bad for them and the effort they’ve put in to preparing for the day. We’ve sent emails to our traders with contact details for The Octagon management, should they wish to talk directly with them.

We can only apologise for this situation and hope that you understand how disappointing and frustrating this is for everyone, including the businesses already in the centre that were looking forward to welcoming us back.

We’ll be closing the applications for the Octagon centre October event this Friday. Confirmation for successful traders will be sent soon after that date.

Are you a small business that would like to trade for free in your local shopping centre? We're running a couple of events this year on the 18th of October and 29th of November.

If you're interested, please email Deke at [email protected] for an application pack.

You'll need Public Liability Insurance but we can point you to a very good and affordable option if you don't have it.

We can even provide tables for a limited number of traders if you don't have your own.

So why not join us and promote your business to the lovely people of Burton in the Octagon Centre?
