CAMILLE ARCHER Of Love and Freedom

Sat 7th, Sun 8th & Sat 14th, Sun 15th December 10am - 5pm - weekends only.

This exhibition is a collection of magic realism paintings, and represent a culmination of several long-standing themes in Camille Archer's artwork. The paintings follow in the traditions of Persian and Mughal miniature painting, using mixed media of watercolour, ink and gouache. Although the artworks are made using Persian miniature painting techniques, the imagery reflects a personal journey of exploring themes of relationship.

The work explores art as an avenue to wider perceptions and to relationship: how people relate to each other, animals, plants, and Camille's own understanding of the invisible, spiritual world.

The artworks often depict animals that are symbolic of freedom, endurance and subtlety, or are based on hidden geometries and symbols representing beings that are said to be beyond ordinary human perception.

This is Camille's first solo exhibition.

Burntisland-based painter Jo Morton will be returning to Glisk for an Autumn pop-up 2nd-4th November, 9am - 5pm.

Jo had an exhibition at Glisk in August, and she noticed that several of her pieces had an autumnal or even wintery feel, so decided to hold this three day pop-up, showing originals as well as a selection of prints and cards.

She says, "as the days draw in, why not take this opportunity to start your festive shopping early, with some special prices available for the duration of the show."

Jo Morton travels widely to find inspiration. Locations in Wales, Northumberland and the Lake District are all featured in the paintings on show.

ASSEMBLE - an exhibition by Karen Trotter at Glisk

opening times: Friday 4th, Saturday 5th, Sunday 6th and Friday 11th, Saturday 12th, Sunday 13th October, 11-6 each day.

Karen Trotter is a visual artist, printmaker and sculptor based in North Queensferry in Fife. She is known for her etchings and paintings of puffins and gannets and experimental printmaking. She’ll be showing a selection of work at this exhibition, focusing on one of her deepest loves - assemblage - built from found objects she recovers from the shores, middens and boat yards around her coastal studio. She is a member of the Dunfermline Printmakers Workshop.

“The process begins with daily walks along the fringe of the Forth Estuary, collecting treasures in the shadow of the iconic Forth Bridges. Arranging and rearranging these found objects in my studio I imagine myself as an archaeologist, or anthropologist, cataloguing and recording an inventory of man-made artefacts, bird skulls, driftwood, and plastic detritus.”

The open studios have been organised by Central Fife Artists Collective https://www.cfac.org.uk

Formally Central Fife Open Studios, the organisation has been going for 10 years now, and members realised that as a group they were doing more with and for the involved members than the yearly open studios, and so a collective was born!

Jane and Marion will be sharing the exhibition space at Glisk to show what they've recently been working on and to chat about their processes, techniques and inspirations.

Jo Morton - 'Quartering the Field'
Friday 16th and Saturday 17th August, 9am - 5pm

Burntisland-based artist Jo Morton will be exhibiting at Glisk with a collection of her bird studies in a variety of styles and landscape paintings and sketches.

Mainly self-taught, Jo has developed her drawing skills since she was a teenager in her room at the top of the house.

Her lifelong focus has been landscape, however a strong interest in birds appears to be a latent feature as they have long appeared in her landscape work.

This exhibition follows a period of focused experimentation and development of bird studies in gouache, which she will be showing at Glisk, along with a selection of her landscape paintings and sketches.

Jo has travelled extensively to gain inspiration for her work, in particular the Hebrides, West Yorkshire, the Lake District and the Welsh countryside.

As well as her originals, Jo will be offering for purchase an extensive range of prints and cards.

You can view more of her work at https://www.painters-online.co.uk/artists/patmosphere/

Places will be limited to 3 per workshop, allowing for plenty of individual attention. A light lunch and other refreshments and all materials are included in the cost!

£150 - cost of all day workshop

A bit about the tutor:
Jo's main focus has long been landscape, however a strong interest in birds appears to have been a latent feature, with bird studies featuring in her work in the past. Having become more of a focus in recent years, she wants to share her passion for painting them in gouache.
Jo has travelled extensively to gain inspiration for her work, often on her own, enjoying particularly her explorations of the Lake District, West Yorkshire and the Hebrides.
