CAMILLE ARCHER Of Love and Freedom
Sat 7th, Sun 8th & Sat 14th, Sun 15th December 10am - 5pm - weekends only.
This exhibition is a collection of magic realism paintings, and represent a culmination of several long-standing themes in Camille Archer's artwork. The paintings follow in the traditions of Persian and Mughal miniature painting, using mixed media of watercolour, ink and gouache. Although the artworks are made using Persian miniature painting techniques, the imagery reflects a personal journey of exploring themes of relationship.
The work explores art as an avenue to wider perceptions and to relationship: how people relate to each other, animals, plants, and Camille's own understanding of the invisible, spiritual world.
The artworks often depict animals that are symbolic of freedom, endurance and subtlety, or are based on hidden geometries and symbols representing beings that are said to be beyond ordinary human perception.
This is Camille's first solo exhibition.
