£1 on every parcel delivered to a door in this country. Around £3bn a year, £68m of it across Lancashire, and every penny ringfenced and handed back to the town the parcel landed in.
Amazon pays the largest share by a distance. Six or seven hundred million against a UK turnover of thirty billion.

Small sellers pay nothing. Under 5,000 parcels a year and you are exempt, so the makers who trade with us on a Sunday are untouched.
Not a grant round. Not a pot to bid into. Money that turns up every year and keeps turning up.
We made staying in cheaper than going into town, then acted surprised when the towns emptied.
