little bit of motivation for anyone thinking about starting their own business, chasing a dream, or doing something they've always wanted to do...
Just go for it.
A lot of people see where someone is now, but they don't see the journey that got them there. When I first started DJing, I wasn't getting paid. I spent weekend after weekend going out with other DJs completely free of charge, carrying equipment, watching, learning, asking questions, and soaking up as much knowledge as I could.
Eventually, I got one night a week.
Then another.
Then another.
Fast forward to now, and I'm working 6 nights a week doing something I genuinely love, running my own business and making a living from something I once only dreamed about. I've reached the goals I set for myself and, in many ways, gone even further than I ever imagined.
Was I nervous at the start? Absolutely.
Did I know if it would work? Not at all.
But if I'd let fear stop me, I'd never be where I am today.
The biggest thing I've learned is that there are opportunities out there for everyone. Whatever your dream is—whether it's starting a business, becoming self-employed, learning a skill, creating content, opening a shop, becoming a tradesperson, or anything else—there are customers, clients, and people out there looking for exactly what you have to offer.
I started with nothing more than a passion for music and a willingness to learn. I gave up my time for free because I knew experience was worth more than money at that stage. Every event, every mistake, every late night, and every opportunity helped me get to where I am today.
The only thing standing between most people and their goals is taking that first step.
Don't wait until you feel ready, because most of the time you'll never feel 100% ready.
Start small.
Learn as you go.
Make mistakes.
Improve.
Keep turning up.
The people who succeed aren't always the most talented—they're often the ones who refuse to quit when things get difficult.
If you've got an idea you've been putting off, this is your sign to start. One day you'll look back and be glad you did.
Believe in yourself, work hard, stay consistent, and don't let fear make your decisions for you. You never know where that first step might take you.
A few years ago I was helping other DJs for free on weekends. Today I run my own business, work multiple nights every week, and get to do what I love for a living.
I know it's a bit of a long-winded post, but if it motivates even one person to go after what they want, it's worth it.
If I can do it, so can you. 💙
