We're wishing the lovely Angie Lars a great opening night tonight in "Ghosted" at Alma Tavern & Theatre! Angie was one of our brilliant community cast members in "All Hands!" and we're absolutely chuffed to see her career progressing. Break a leg Angie!

Our Autumn season kicks off with a brand new feel good play from Johnny T. Ashman and Naked Heart Productions.

GHOSTED follows Jess, recently back from a stint abroad who decides to tackle her dating woes with a challenge: 7 dates in 7 days, 0 expectations. But if all dating went well, there would be no romcoms, right?

A charming new romantic comedy - brand new theatre for our September season. Ghosted runs from Friday 5th - Thursday 11th (no show Monday). One night is already sold out - so what're you waiting for? Jump on our website and grab your tickets now!

2.30pm TODAY

Our brilliant Community Cast member, Bronwyn, will be speaking as part of a talk marking the 340th anniversary of the Battle of Sedgemoor this afternoon. We do love a bit of local history!

Did you know it was the last battle on English soil?

Did you know the fate of King and Country was decided by a surprise attack gone wrong?

If you'd like to find out more about this intriguing, dark and bloody story, do go along. The talk takes place at St Peter and All Hallows Church in West Huntspill.

*HELP US TO HELP OTHERS*

We took over the running of Burnham Information in April 2011 when the District Council made the decision to withdraw funding and close. With between 30 - 40 volunteers at any one time on our list we have managed to be open everyday except Christmas day each year.

As well as running the information centre, advising and assisting many locals and visitors each year, we have tried to establish ourselves as a major part of our community including:

Running the Burnham & Highbridge Helpline through Covid. Many people are still being assisted today from this scheme.

Supplying and organising volunteers for vaccination centres in Berrow, Burnham, Highbridge and Cheddar.

Assisting many events in our locality.

Advising, assisting and signposting many locals in need of an extra bit of help when in distress.

At the end of 2024 a decision was made to close our whole operation on Dec 31st 2024 due to the lack of funding.
This decision has been withdrawn as we have been saved. More info to come on this soon. It's basically taking us back more to how we set up originally and is very exciting with lots planned.

To help us become sustainable going forward, we have set up a 'Friends of BiARS' scheme. This scheme is open to all local businesses who wish to support our ventures and want to gain from the recommendations and promotion we can give to them. Cost to each business is Β£50 per year.

What can you do to help?

Ask your workplaces and local businesses to get in touch and join our scheme.

Share, share and share this post.

We will list the businesses that are supporting us over the next few days, and ask you to support them back with us.

If you're a business and want to find out more about our scheme and benefit from bring a friend, get in touch with our manager Ian by email on [email protected]

Thanks all and we really appreciate any circulation of this post and recommendations you can give to local businesses.

With your help, we can be here to help our community for many years to come.
