Here are a few ’action shots’ from the day. More will be added as I receive them. A big shout out to Owen Farr for adjudicating and inspiring so many. He even took time in the tea break to give a small workshop to three adults who were new to performing. The younger players received so much encouragement, with one even having Owen assisting with a valve malfunction mid performance!!

What a fantastic day of brass playing. From beginners through to the ‘old timers’. Superb playing by all. Huge thanks to Owen Farr for, not only adjudicating, but inspiring all of us throughout the competition and at his recital and talk which rounded off a fabulous day.
Huge thanks to everyone who attended and to those who helped with the running of the event.

If anyone has any photos please forward them to me so I can use them in the write ups.

A reminder for all competitors to bring a copy of their piece/s for the adjudicator. including duets/ensembles. Photocopies are acceptable and will be destroyed after. Also, an original or usable copy of the piano part if using the BFD pianist.

At last! We’re going ahead!
Brass Festival Day 2022 is confirmed for 20 November with International Horn Soloist Owen Farr. Put the date in your diary and more details soon.

29/04/2021

Brass Festival Day will unfortunately not happen this year. It was felt that with so many other events being fitted into the latter part of 2021 plus lack of time for soloists & ensembles to rehearse together, it would be better to hold the 2022 event bigger and better.

11/03/2021

Hoping to go ahead this November so pencil in the 21st. Confirmation plus more details will be posted here as soon as known.

23/11/2020

We should, today, have been recovering from a potentially fabulous and successful day yesterday with the wonderful Owen Farr. All plans put on hold until this time next year.

22/07/2020

It is with great sadness that we have to announce that Brass Festival Day 2020 will not be going ahead.
With so much uncertainty it would not be fair to start all the organising to then have to cancel short notice plus the months are going by so fast there isn't much time left for players to rehearse especially the ensembles and solos with an accompanist.
Until the Government allow brass playing on a non professional basis there is no procedure that can be put in place to allow us to run the event.
Fingers crossed for 2021.

At such a tricky time to plan events we are hoping that by November we will be able to run Brass Festival Day 2020 on 22nd November with the International Horn Soloist Owen Farr. WATCH THIS SPACE!
