Passed away on Wednesday 8th July 2026 at Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr after a long illness.
Cochyn of Coed Bach, Sennybridge.

Beloved husband of Ann and much loved and deeply missed by all his family and friends.
Proud and dedicated supporter and former Huntsman of Sennybridge Farmers Hunt.

Funeral Thursday 6th August 2026.
Public service at St Cynog’s Church, Defynnog at 2pm, followed by a public interment at Cefnarthen Chapel Cemetery.

Last weekend, friends and fellow hunting enthusiasts from across the UK, Ireland and even Australia gathered to celebrate a remarkable milestone as hunting legend Henry Persse marked his 100th birthday.

It is with great regret that, due to the continued adverse weather conditions and with animal welfare and the safety of all involved as our overriding priorities, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel the hound show this Thursday (25th June).

Despite working closely with our veterinary surgeons and putting extensive measures in place to safeguard the welfare of the hounds, the prevailing conditions have left us with no viable alternative.

After careful consideration, and in the best interests of the hounds, exhibitors, judges, officials, volunteers and spectators, we believe this is the only responsible course of action.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Royal Welsh Showground for their flexibility, assistance and support with our last-minute adjustments, as well as for providing access to their excellent facilities. We are also extremely grateful to our veterinary team for their invaluable advice, guidance and ongoing support throughout this process.

Finally, we would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding over the past few days while we explored every possible option to enable the show to proceed and carefully monitored the ongoing forecast.

We kindly ask that you allow the committee a few days to discuss the next steps and consider our plans moving forward. We will be in touch with further information as soon as possible.

📢 A quick reminder for all hunts and hunt staff!

An email was sent out this morning regarding dress code updates and provisions available on the day. If you're anything like me and don't check your personal emails very often, please take a moment to have a look. 😄

The Hunting Shop has been inundated with orders for kennel coats this morning! Don't worry though – they've spoken with our friends at Glanusk Country Store & Gun Room, and they'll be bringing plenty along on the day.

You'll find them in their usual spot next to the fell/hill ring, with kennel coats available in both adult and children's sizes.
