Artists of all ages and abilities are invited to take part in a brand-new live art competition as part of this year’s Art in the Countryside event, taking place on Saturday 13th June 2026.
Set against the beautiful backdrop of the countryside, the event will host its first-ever Artist of the Year competition, offering a unique opportunity for artists to create work live during the day. Open to everyone, the competition includes two categories – Under 16s and Adults – and promises a welcoming and inspiring atmosphere for both emerging and established artists.
Participants will be judged by two highly respected artists, Polly Pincott and Barry Miller. Polly Pincott is a semi-finalist from Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year (2024) and a member of the Oxford Art Society, while Barry Miller is an award-winning artist whose work has been exhibited in Nottingham and London, including the SAA Artist of the Year exhibitions and the Pastel Society Annual Exhibition at Mall Galleries.
Winning entries will receive a special prize awarded by the judges, as well as professional framing, offering artists a valuable opportunity to showcase their work.
