🎹 For this week's opening set Germ1 decided to take care of business and dig through his crates for songs which sampled Nina Simone, in homage to the High Priestess of Soul.

Don't let her be misunderstood, Nina has had a massive influence on the world of music, particularly in Hip-Hop. By sampling her powerful voice or melancholic piano loops, she offered the perfect vibe to some amazing instrumentals on which MCs would drop conscious bars. The lyrics often echoed the same cries for freedom, racial equality and justice that Nina would fight for, giving her a new light, a new day.

🎙️ Expect legends such as Talib Kweli, Danger Mouse & Jemini, Apollo Brown and other underground Hip-Hop artists. Expect nostalgic beats. Expect to feel good, whether you're in the mood indigo or not.

Track list:

Nina Simone - Feeling Good
Nina Simone & Lauryn Hill - Feeling Good
Wax Tailor - How I Feel
O.C. (Produced by Gwop Sullivan) - A New Dawn
Nina Simone - Plain Gold Ring:
Chris Orrick & Fashawn (Produced by Exile) - Bottom Feeders
Planet Asia (Produced by Apollo Brown) - Deep in the Casket
Nina Simone - Sinnerman
Jevon - Man of the Hour
Talib Kweli (Produced by Kanye West) - Get By
Nina Simone - Don't Let Me Ve Misunderstood:
Doom (Produced by Hi-Tek) - Karma
Nina Simone - Take Care Of Business
Jemini The Gifted One & J-Zone (Produced by Danger Mouse) - Take Care Of Business
Nina Simone - Mood Indigo
BLU (Produced by Sirplus) - You Ain't Never Been Blu(e)
Nina Simone - Blue Prelude
Das Efx (Produced by Kevin Greeda) - Here It Is
