This was one of the client's favorite horses. Previously in a very tired frame. A clean and amazing new handmade frame, it can now go back to its place of importance in a prominent location on a spacious landing in a stunning barn conversion.

Another Lowry masterpiece, beautifully framed!

One of our lovely clients, a passionate Lowry collector, brought in yet another stunning limited edition print for us to work on.

For this one, we recommended a bespoke handmade frame, carefully selecting colours and tints to perfectly complement the tones of the piece. The result? Absolutely beautiful, if we do say so ourselves!

Personally delivering it to the client today. There's nothing quite like seeing a collector's face when they see their artwork framed just right.

If you have a special piece that deserves a matching frame, come and talk to us, we'd love to help!

We were recently entrusted with a treasured family painting that had seen better days — dulled by years of grime and in need of some serious TLC. After extensive cleaning and restoration, the results speak for themselves!

This stunning Madonna and Child has been brought back to life, with all the warmth, depth, and detail the original artist intended, now shining through once more.

A huge thank you to Clare for bringing this beautiful piece to us, it was an absolute joy to work on.

🖼️ The correct framing is now being discussed... so watch this space! 👀

A wonderful refresh for this charming L.S. Lowry print.
We carefully cleaned the artwork and created a custom frame to suit the piece beautifully, giving it a new lease of life while respecting its character and style.

L.S. Lowry remains one of Britain’s most beloved artists, famous for his instantly recognisable street scenes and his unique way of capturing everyday life in industrial Britain. His paintings and prints hold a special place in British art, telling the story of ordinary communities with simplicity, warmth and unmistakable character.

This was a pleasure to work on — a classic image, now beautifully presented and ready to be enjoyed once again.

A very special restoration project recently completed at Andrew Finlay Art Conservation.

This portrait of a much-loved family member came to us showing the effects of age, surface dirt, discoloured varnish, and wear. After careful conservation treatment, the sitter’s features, colour, and presence have been beautifully brought back to life.

It is always a privilege to help preserve not just a painting, but a family connection and a piece of personal history for future generations.

At the Design Centre in Broadway, the studio solved a case of insect-damaged timber using a clear, methodical process. We began with non-invasive diagnostics, mapped active infestation, and tested humidity and material stability. Treatments included controlled fumigation, consolidation with reversible adhesives, and selective timber splicing using matching historic oak. All materials and methods were documented for future monitoring. The outcome: structural stability restored, visible loss sympathetically integrated, and a 5‑year monitoring plan agreed with the owner. A recent assessment at our Broadway studio revealed a simple frame held unexpected significance. After surface analysis, archival research and a found maker’s mark, we traced provenance to a regional workshop—so treatment shifted from full reconstruction to targeted stabilization to retain original material. This approach protected the piece’s cultural value and made it eligible for future loans and exhibitions. Galleries and historical societies benefited from a treatment plan grounded in context and clear documentation. Find out more: https://wix.to/TZ2o5MV

At our Broadway studio, we recently completed a material‑by‑material conservation of a Cotswolds painting, treating canvas paint, gesso and the timber frame with museum‑standard techniques. We assessed each material, selected reversible, conservation‑grade adhesives and consolidants, and stabilised the support to respect the original fabric. The result was measurable: reduced paint flaking, improved surface cohesion and a steadier frame alignment, all recorded in before‑and‑after condition checks. Trustees, curators and collectors are invited to view the case study and documentation. https://wix.to/4JQqEkP 👋🔍

Andrew Finlay Conservation offered a concise masterclass on conserving mixed‑media works, explaining how cross‑material interactions guided treatment sequencing and environmental controls. The studio cited material science principles and ethical choices to preserve both object integrity and meaning, reducing the need for future interventions and improving loan‑readiness for galleries. Serving museums, galleries, private collectors and historical societies around The Design Centre, Kennel Lane, Broadway WR12 7DJ, the team applied museum‑standard protocols across archaeological to contemporary materials.
