Bristol needs more Stone Jets and it was amazing to have them rock around our figurative Christmas tree for Tonic 061: Winter Warmer at Rough Trade Bristol to blow away any winter blues.
Given with his unfathomable voice - whales hate him (yes that's a fathom joke), Manfred with his guitar genius, and Adrien repping righteous rhythms and harmonies; the trio brought our final show of the year to a close, wrapping the room in the warmth of their wonder.
We can't wait for them to return to Bristol soon, and we're looking forward to bringing seasonal shows in the new year with your friendly neighbourhood Team Tonic:

to last week's show, Tonic 061: Winter Warmer featuring the hearthside glow of Stanley Iyanu, Poet & Writer as he took the audience at Rough Trade Bristol through every emotion under the moon.

Swipe to see some shots from Stanley's set, and order his pamphlet, My Achilles, out now with Burning Eye Books: https://burningeye.bigcartel.com/product/my-achilles-by-stanley-iyanu
In the pamphlet, Stanley explores the strength and vulnerability present when embracing all sides of oneself.

We loved Stanley's stunning set at LYRA - Bristol Poetry Festival in M Shed, and had to get him back to bring the year's events to a close in signature style.

Huge love,
Team Tonic

Whether imagining the cosmic discovery of a new world, dealing with a fresh loss and all that may hold, or recalling your first crush, encountering the new in its many forms is a pivotal factor of any lived experience—and rich fodder for writing!

Happy birthday, Joseph James Rogan, this one's for you. Today's is: Conspiracy Theory Rant.

Golly, the Joe Rogan Experience podcast is a lot of content, much of which is devoted to entertaining the wild musings of conspiracy theorists. So, on Joe's very day of birth, we thought it'd be fun to challenge you to create your own conspiracy theory as a page poem or spoken word rant. Is Peter Jackson's King Kong is based on true events? Is the sea just one big raindrop that's too big to become a cloud, hiding ancient secrets as a result?? Were red peppers created by Big Salad???

28th July marks the anniversary of the end of the Siege of Damascus during the Second Crusade, and this Sunday Scratch prompt is: My city walls will not fall.

The city of the self is ever-changing; growth, decline, damage, repair, we forge and rebuild throughout our lives. Our individual cities are held within walls. One of the great powers of art is its ability to allow us to drop certain walls to share parts of our cities—both with ourselves and with others; parts that may otherwise be hidden or lost. While art can help us lower our walls partway, there is a strength in sharing, and these lowered walls do not fall away.
