Our ‘Making Verbatim Theatre with The Paper Birds’ CPD is back this autumn!

The full day workshop offers a proper deep dive into our unique approach to creating original devised verbatim theatre. Over the course of the day, you’ll explore how to weave real people’s stories and interviews into your devising process. It’s designed to be a practical and engaging experience, guiding you through everything from collecting verbatim moments and conducting research, right through to the essential skills of editing, finding your story’s throughline, and developing content from page to stage.

We understand that taking a full day out of your demanding schedule, and securing funding for professional development, is a significant commitment. That’s precisely why we’ve designed this workshop to be an incredibly high-value experience, offering practical tools and unique insights you can immediately apply in your classroom. This isn’t just theory; it’s a hands-on dive into our devising methods. 📣 We’re looking to add to our pool of artist/facilitators for our ongoing delivery of devising theatre workshops in schools and colleges, specifically with artists who are based in Essex, London or the North East or North West of England.

We’re looking for people who have:
• a genuine passion for developing creativity through theatre with young people.
• are exceptional communicators and experienced facilitators
• and have experience working in contemporary theatre.

📆 Tue 14 July at The Unicorn, London or
📆 Wed 15 July at Sheffield Theatres

Just a reminder that during the session she’ll be exploring our 5 Key ingredients for creating accessible and thought-provoking devised productions; Verbatim, Movement, Character & Narrative, Exposing the Method and Motif.

The session is suitable for teachers and practitioners who are new to our practice, or for those that are familiar to our style and would like a refresher.

Wondering what to do with yourself this bank holiday Monday 🤔... well wonder no more, you can take a look at our NEW SPARKLY WEBSITE! 🎉💻

We’ve been tinkering with technology behind the scenes over the last few months and have created an all singing, all dancing new site. It still houses the same brilliant resources, quirky copy and access to the back catalogues and videos of our work, but it’s completely responsive with amended navigation and a new News section, which will allow us to share more in depth behind the scenes access, blogs and vlogs about our projects including our next show, 48 Thoughts Per Minute!
