Theatre Bristol is now closed.

A huge thank you to everyone who interacted with Theatre Bristol, whether it was through the website or social media channels, turning up to events, receiving 1:1 support from our team, or perhaps working with us as a member of the team, the board or a partner organisation. We appreciate you all.

We are simplifying theatrebristol.net and will keep this live until 2028. You will be able to find a downloadable copy of '18 Years of Theatre Bristol' there celebrating TB's impact with a collection of personal stories, as well as the Resource Library. Similarly, our social media accounts will be kept open, but will no longer be maintained.

Thank you all for your support.

In a final celebration of all things Theatre Bristol, we're collecting personal stories of how our organisation has influenced your life, your work, your career.⁠
⁠
We could have collected the data to show how many artist support sessions we have provided, how many people interacted with our various websites, how many people read our newsletters, or how many freelancers have received bursaries or funding or commissions through us. But these numbers wouldn't really tell our story.⁠
⁠
Instead, inspired by the outpouring of responses following our closure announcement, we want to collect and share the individual stories, which we believe is where the true value lies in the work we do. Sometimes, we call this 'the invisible work' or 'the quiet work'. But we don't want it to remain invisible or quiet anymore.⁠

We have been blown away by the response to the news of our forthcoming closure. To see your stories voiced all together is testament to the work delivered by the staff and artists of Theatre Bristol over the last 18 years, and demonstrates the magnitude of the impact our work has had.

Slide 2: Test Run Artist. Naomi Moon Dance. “Thank you Theatre Bristol for the helping hand the Test Run grant provided. Naomi Moon Dance would have never decided to make a work called NEU|RON, a piece I've wanted to make for 16 years!

NEU|RON is now in a place where it has been granted two summer studio residencies nationwide, and gained studio time to try out ideas for the show and share and critique them with other leading Contemporary Dance Artists.”

Slide 3: Test Run Artist. Spilt Ink Theatre. “I am so very grateful for Theatre Bristol's Seed funding to find a producer. I worked with two great producers (Justin Palmer & Mia Lake) who helped me with budget management & a tour pack, as well as introduced me to some great contacts that I am now working with for my arts council application.

I now feel much more able and committed to the project, because of the support from the meeting with the producers and I will definitely put them on my arts council application, & will hopefully work with them long term.”
