After 25 years of dedicated service to To***co Factory Theatres, David Dewhurst has made the decision to step away from his role as Executive Director and begin a new chapter.

Over more than two decades, David has played a significant part in the life of TFT, especially in operations and finance; helping to guide the organisation through periods of both significant success and challenge, and contributing to its growth and development with loyalty, resilience, and a deep commitment to the work.

His long-standing knowledge of the organisation, care for its people, and commitment to its purpose have helped shape much of what TFT is today, and form an important part of its legacy.

Some of David's significant contributions are overseeing the delivery of many of TFT's capital projects, including the development and fit up of The Brewery Theatre in 2009, the installation of the iconic Factory Theatre seating in 2013, and the build of the new Spielman Theatre in 2018.

As Executive Director since 2019, with untiring commitment he has also helped guide the theatre through the challenges of the Covid-19 Pandemic, providing strong financial management, stability and growth when it was needed most.

David says:
"When I joined a small team launching a theatre in a disused To***co Factory in 2001, I had no idea where the journey would take us. Over the past 25 years, an experiment to see if theatre would work in a non-conventional space has developed into one of the most important cultural venues in this city and well beyond. It's been a pleasure to play a part in its history, and I'm delighted to leave it in a position of strength and with a wonderful team to drive it forwards. I am looking forward to taking a break to spend some time with my family before taking the next step in my career."

Our board of trustees say:
"The Board thanks David for his many years of contribution to To***co Factory Theatres. Throughout that time, he has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the organisation, helping to guide it through periods of growth, change, and challenge with dedication, professionalism, and care. We wish David and his family every happiness for the future, and thank him for everything he has given to To***co Factory Theatres"

As he takes a well-deserved break to spend some time with his family, we want to acknowledge both the significance of this and the contribution he has made over so many years.

DON GIOVANNI
23rd Sept - 03 Oct 2026
Directed by Richard Studer | Conducted by Jonathan Lyness

Opera Project and To***co Factory Theatres complete Mozart and Da Ponte’s trilogy with their thrilling masterpiece, Don Giovanni.

This is the story of a man entirely driven by desire for sexual conquest, a desire that not only controls his own life but those around him. This tale of seduction, murder and divine retribution is nevertheless richly imbued with darkly comic episodes, provided by the fast and furious interplay between Giovanni and his servant Leporello, one of opera’s most memorable creations.

Writers Lab is the TFT’s adult Get Involved group focussed on writing for performance. The programme supports new and developing writers through weekly sessions focused on voice, confidence and craft. Since it began in 2023 over 100 writers have been involved. Writers Lab Presents… marks the first time any of their work has been presented in a dedicated showcase of this scale.

When was the last time you checked in on your mates?

RUM isn’t just a play, it’s a conversation we don’t have enough. You’re invited into Danny’s world: a plasterer who’s been on the tools since he was a kid. He’s tough, quick-witted, “not scared of anything.” Or at least that’s what he tells himself.

After a long night and with the pressure mounting, Danny’s racing to finish a job before giving the speech of his life. But as the day unfolds, the cracks start to show, and some things can’t be smoothed over.

Darkly funny, raw, and unflinchingly honest, RUM explores masculinity, mental health, and addiction in the trade, shining a light on the things we often leave unsaid.

Written and performed by Joe Mallalieu and directed by Tess Seddon, this award-winning production returns in 2026 following a standout run at the Edinburgh Fringe and a successful UK tour.

One night only, 16 May 2026. Tickets here (link in bio): https://bit.ly/4cYizAx

Proudly partnered with , a men’s su***de prevention charity offering free peer-to-peer support groups across the UK and online.

Liberace & Liza Minnelli never performed together, but that didn’t stop David Saffert & Jillian Snow from creating this wildly successful mashup of two over-the-top icons.

Saffert’s dizzying piano skills and Snow’s powerhouse belt team up in Cabaret, New York, New York, Over the Rainbow to surprise covers by Lady Gaga and Britney Spears. There are as many laughs as there are sequins when their Liberace & Liza take hilarious (and sometimes mischievous) turns vying for the spotlight. No matter what, they both come out winning and audiences are left in awe, humming and quoting a night they’ll not soon forget.
