‘The Chipping Norton Incident’, written by Tess Fletcher, is a play based on the true story of the Ascott Martyrs -16 women, teenage girls and 2 babies who were imprisoned in 1873.
The play’s guiding mission is to bring the little-known story of the Ascott women to audiences, and raise awareness of these astonishing, absurd, terrible (and mostly forgotten) events in British history which helped revive the rights to peaceful protest.
