Today kicks off this year's Learning Disability Week, organised by Mencap, which is centred around a powerful question: "Do you see me?"

This provides an opportunity to reflect on how inclusive learning environments really are, both inside and outside the classroom.

At Phoenix Play, we believe every child deserves to feel seen, heard and valued. That's why inclusive playground design goes beyond accessibility. It's about creating spaces where children can build confidence, develop friendships, express themselves and experience a genuine sense of belonging.

Our latest blog explores how outdoor play can support children with learning disabilities through sensory experiences, collaborative play opportunities and environments that celebrate different strengths and ways of engaging with the world. It also includes practical ideas for schools looking to review and enhance the inclusivity of their outdoor spaces. The blog draws on the 2026 Learning Disability Week theme, which highlights the importance of ensuring people with learning disabilities are seen, heard and valued in every aspect of life.

Communication skills are built through everyday interactions, and some of the most valuable opportunities happen outside the classroom.

Our latest blog explores how playground design can support communication and language and development by creating spaces that encourage conversation, collaboration and self expression.

From role play areas and storytelling spaces to sensory experiences and social play opportunities, the right environment can help children develop confidence in communicating with others.

At Phoenix Play, we believe every child deserves an environment where they feel confident to connect, communicate and be heard. Thoughtful playground design can play an important role in making that happen.

A great playground doesn't end with installation. It thrives through ongoing care, attention and expert maintenance.

Regular playground inspections are not only essential for safety and compliance, they help protect the value of your investment and ensure children can continue to play, learn and explore with confidence.

Phoenix Play offers both standalone Annual Inspections, helping schools meet insurance and compliance requirements, and comprehensive Inspection & Maintenance Packages that include Annual and Operational Inspections, as well as proactive maintenance throughout the year.

Working with our RoSPA partners for the Annual Inspections and using our in-house RPII-certified Operational Inspectors, we provide detailed reports, identify potential issues before they become bigger problems, and help keep your equipment performing at its best. As part of our Operational Inspections service, we can also address minor repairs whilst on site, helping to extend the lifespan of your play equipment.

At Phoenix Play, we believe every play space has a story worth preserving. Through expert Inspections and Maintenance, we're helping schools create safe, inspiring environments where children's confidence, creativity and curiosity can continue to grow.

There’s nothing quite like seeing a new play space come to life through the eyes of the children who use it.

Last week, James visited one of our recently completed projects at Yeo Moor Primary School (part of Futura Learning Partnership) to deliver a Live Learning Experience and officially launch the school’s fantastic new play environment. The session gave pupils the opportunity to explore the equipment, learn how to use it safely and discover more about the materials used in its construction.

Engaging directly with pupils and seeing their excitement as they discover new ways to play, learn and challenge themselves is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

We were especially pleased to see the children enjoying Chestnut, a beautiful climber from our new Legends of the Forest range. Designed to inspire adventure, imagination and active play, it’s already proving to be a firm favourite. Watch this space for a full customer story soon!

Today is World Environment Day, and it's a great opportunity to reflect on the role we all play in creating a greener future for the next generation.

At Phoenix Play, environmental responsibility isn't just something we talk about - it's built into the way we design, manufacture and deliver our outdoor play and learning environments. From sourcing materials through ethical and environmentally conscious supply chains to incorporating recycled and recyclable materials into many of our products, we're always looking for ways to reduce our impact on the planet.

We believe that small actions can make a big difference. That's why we send our Stokbord offcuts back to be recycled into new sheets, helping to minimise waste and maximise resources. We also work with timber suppliers who plant two trees for every one harvested, helping to ensure our natural materials contribute to a sustainable future.
