Here’s a slightly rubbish Christmas image to front the sentiment behind it - which is that, despite seemingly not being able to post AT ALL for the whole of the Autumn term, the fun we’ve had, the progress we’ve made and the admiration we‘ve had for our students this term has been more apparent than ever. They’ve been so committed and produced such wonderful ideas and performances during lessons (and yet we’ve not managed to capture any of it on camera 🫣).

In the meantime, wishing you all a happy, healthy and restful Christmas and Festive period.

See y’all in 2024 ✋🏻☺️

As this academic year has drawn to a close (and where did it go?!), we’ve been reflecting on the achievements of our students. These have included:
👊🏻 Performing in our two Student Showcases at (some performing for their first time)
👊🏻 Distinctions for every examination taken this academic year (ranging from Grades 2 to 7 / Silver Medal)
👊🏻 One of our year 8 students for whom English is a second language progressing from a quiet student at the start of the year to performing not only in our Summer Student Showcase, but in the School’s Summer Sharing concert, and receiving a compliment from the Headteacher thereafter 💪🏻 This student also informed us that they felt their confidence had soared and they wanted to pursue performance in the future.

In addition: one of our students has smashed this year by: gaining representation with ; being cast in Young Company’s production of ‘There’s Nobody Else in the World and the World Was Made For Me’ THEN casually being cast in an episode of and Elgin James’ series . This same student has also written and directed the play ‘Kid Again’, to be performed by her and at on Monday 7th August - check their IG for details!

Alongside these achievements, students have been dedicated, hardworking and thoroughly engaged in their work and development week to week. We are immensely proud of every single one of them.

Snaps are from our Summer Showcase at in June 📷

Hope you’ve all had a brilliant start to your summers, and we can’t wait to see you in September, well-rested and ready to go!

We’ve got a little catching up to do over here in HQ in the sharing of our recent results:

We are so proud to announce that every student who has taken a exam this academic year has been awarded Distinction!

These were all Acting exams. Some students were more experienced in the taking of an exam, while others were doing it for the first time.

While super proud of every student and their result, we still like to iterate the fact that we believe the exam experience is useful for the preparation period first and foremost, and the skills developed during this time:
💪🏻 Self-discipline, self-evaluation and independent working
💪🏻 Presentation / Performance / Public Speaking skills
💪🏻 Interview skills in the Knowledge part of the exam
💪🏻 Memory recall
💪🏻 Creativity and problem solving
💪🏻 Working as part of a team (if applicable)
💪🏻 Increased awareness of theatre and literature

Imagine developing all of these skills and having a ton of fun along the way?!

Back to it next week, following the Easter break!

In their weekly lessons, our children and young people choose a focus, usually one of Singing, Acting, Public Speaking, Poetry Performance / Spoken Word or Musical Theatre.

This year 8 student at is a Singing student of ours, focusing on Pop/Contemporary singing. In recent lessons, we’ve been working with a microphone so she can get used to how this feels and sounds for future live performance. This student has so much natural singing ability, including transitioning easily between vocal registers and utilising appropriate vowel shape/placement for certain pitches. Working with a mic is adding to her vocal skills/toolkit - and she’s a joy to teach!

Happy World Down Syndrome Day, all!

Something close to our hearts here at HQ, this day is celebrated all over the world each year on 21st March, with people popping on a pair of odd socks to recognise it. The day was created to celebrate the lives of people with Down Syndrome and to make sure that they have the same freedoms and opportunities as everybody else. So why the odd socks? ‘Well, a chromosome looks a little like a sock and people with Down Syndrome have an extra copy of the 21st chromosome. It’s a great way to open up conversations and raise awareness.’ (Down Syndrome Scotland). I feel both lucky and proud to have experienced a relationship with a loved one with Down Syndrome throughout my life. 💕

We’re so abundantly proud of our wonderful / student in her role as April in Young Company’s performance of ‘There’s Nobody Else in the World and the World was Made for Me’, which took place last week. This gifted young performer auditioned with hundreds to become one of 14 cast members for this production. (She’s also recently signed with , and will no doubt be snapped up for other projects in the months to come). A fantastic performance by all - gripping and thought-provoking. Congratulations!

Joy in being able to do what we love for a living. Joy in seeing our students progress or a particular technique clicking with them right in front of us. Joy in witnessing them gain confidence. There is so much joy in what we do. Here’s to another year of it! 🥂

Luna the cat has it right this Christmas, we reckon - sit and relax by the tree while looking on and reflecting on the year gone by 🌲 (do cats reflect?)

This term has been a busy one, and our first with a little person on the team so not always straightforward! But - as always - our students, their parents/carers and our schools make things feel warm and friendly and simple.

Here’s to them and to anyone reading this - celebrate Christmas and celebrate yourselves!

Our Story

We took our first steps into the Arts Education world in June 2015, running bespoke sessions in schools, holiday workshops, weekday evening and weekend theatre classes.

Fast forward to early 2017, when Perform For Life was formed. We offer high-quality Performing Arts tuition in the South and South West of England, on one-to-one / duo / small group and larger group basis. We also offer tuition for examinations with the prestigious LAMDA and Trinity College London exam boards.

Our sessions are industry-standard, and create an environment in which students can feel happy, encouraged and supported - while also being challenged.

We know that a passion for performing can not only provide us with great joy; the Performing Arts can also develop skills which can be used throughout students’ lives, both on and off the stage.
