What impact do you want to leave onto the world through your art?
I would love to have my work apart of the movement in history that has shifted of perception on the female n**e, the conversation around body celebration and be known for helping the changing mindset around how we view the body - both our own and others. ✨

‘ My aim is to think of bodies in a non-medical, anti-capitalist way and look for other ways to experience our bodies, for example a new anatomy of the body, the hand as a self portrait or the relation between nature and our body.

It's about making sense of life even if there is no sense. It's the feeling of creating that is almost godlike. It's very addictive to create even if you don't like what you create or when there is no public. The act of creating is what keeps me going.

To embody philosophical questions about being. AS A PHILOSOPHER I VIEW MY WRITINGS AND ART AS TOOLS TO DO RESEARCH. MY MAIN QUESTION IN RELATION TO THINKING AND MAKING IS: WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE YOUR BODY INSTEAD OF HAVING A BODY?’ Clara is a philosopher and visual artist currently based in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

This wonderful mixed media artwork by Clara is titled, ‘Abundance’. (2022)

‘Embroidery is the backbone of my practice: I sew the contour lines of my subjects into linen to create a textural reminder of sensual pleasures. I aim to create an oasis of comfort through textile work: a silky evocation of soothing memories.’ Maddie Mo is a freelance artist working towards taking her creative practice to a full-time basis, she is currently based in Melbourne, Australia.

This beautiful embroidery piece by Maddie Mo is titled ‘Rolling Hills’.

- ‘My art is about capturing both the soul and complexities of life. When you really pay attention to the small things, you cannot help but see the beauty in all living things. Every one of us is put together in such a delicate way, full of squillions of little details and imperfections. That’s what makes us beautiful- our details are so different but our souls are more similar than we think. This is what I hope to portray in my work. Art is what fills me with purpose and happiness, and propels me to thrive. ’ Sarah is currently a full-time visual artist based in Melbourne, Australia.

This painting by Sarah is titled, ‘Alfred Nicholas Gardens’.

By: Agate Rubene - NZ Artist] ‘My mum studied painting in an art academy but when I was born she decided not to professionally pursue art but to focus on family.  She became an art teacher instead and from the age of 3 she took me and my brother along with her to work. I was always encouraged to create, try different mediums, and different techniques. I always knew I'd be in the creative field.

My work has a personal connection to feelings, identity and strength. Most of my characters are females or gender fluid characters. I am inspired by the people around me, the way we interact with each other and patterns in nature.’ Agate of Agate Rubene - NZ Artist] is a full-time visual artist currently based in Auckland, New Zealand.

This painting by Agate is titled, ‘Dreamland’.

By: “I’m very fond of making things with a playful aesthetic because I want to remind adults (myself included) that life doesn’t always have to be so serious or weighty. Stop, breathe and enjoy the ten million colours out there.

I took a break from being a graphic designer to work as a creative assistant in a rug company where the owner gave me the opportunity to turn my artwork into a rug (‘Marmalade’ for Floor_Story). It was very exciting to see and feel my design in a new medium. This experience made me realise I want to spend more time developing my own art and design projects. I’m currently working towards turning it into a full-time profession.

My idea of being a successful artist is to do work that excites me and bring me happiness throughout the design process. Knowing that my worth as a creative is not based only on critiques made about my art is also another big thing I’m working on. I'm optimistic that one day I might be able to do my art and designs on a full-time basis and make a living out of it.”

This painting by Carmellia Indrawati is titled ‘Bounce’.

By: “I want my work to act as a bridge between our physical reality and the infinite potential of our imaginations. Creativity is absolutely the language of my soul. Painting allows me to express my being in its most authentic form, and painting through the lens of abstraction allows me to explore my thoughts and express my emotions in unconventional, complex and beautiful ways. Through every work that I make, I am expanding my knowledge and practice, and the time for reflection within the process helps me evolve into higher versions of myself.”

“I believe success to be a measure of how you feel, to create a life which revolves around what you are most passionate about and which brings you the most joy.”

This acrylic painting by Jenna is titled ‘Mind Over Matter.’

By: “My mission is to create work that is the most authentic reflection of myself and through that, encourage other people to be less afraid and to feel less alone, particularly when it comes to their emotions and thought patterns. I am quite obsessed with the performative nature of human beings and how we find it so difficult to say what we truly think or even acknowledge how we truly feel. It is fascinating to me, that although we desperately want to feel deep connection, we are terrified to share the innermost parts of ourselves.
I love painting because it is a way for me to translate what is happening in my mind. It helps me understand where I am mentally and also allows me to communicate how I feel in a way that is more powerful than if I were to speak or write.
I aspire to be an artist who knows her own power and who isn’t afraid to express and explore the deepest parts of herself. I hate the idea of being pigeon-holed or deemed a “certain kind” of artist. There are so many different parts of me that exist that I want to express.”

This oil on canvas artwork by Zoe is titled ‘Pile of Mush.’

By: “When I see women in my clothing looking confident and fabulous, killing it in their own fields- it inspires me to push my craft and continue to commit my life's work to creating quality one of a kind pieces with a strong message of sustainability behind the garment. I am really passionate about changing the destructive fast faced fashion industry, so I create made to order and sustainably sourced clothing for someone who wants to stand out, feel confident, but also cares about their environmental footprint.

The biggest highlight of my career so far has been travelling to Bangalore, India to work with a female lead studio of local wood block printing artisans who have been working in this craft for over 70 years. I have since then been able to collaborate with the studio to create original prints to be used in my collections, creating a unique point of difference for my brand- celebrating an age old hand craft as well as a slow practice.” Katharina Lou is a female run slow-fashion label based in Melbourne.
