Summer Has Arrived and Itβs Fire π₯βοΈ
The recent heat has been great for getting outdoors, but itβs not always great news for our aquariums and aquatic ecosystems.
As temperatures rise, fish can become stressed, oxygen levels in the water can drop, and biological processes within the aquarium can change dramatically. Many fishkeepers donβt realise that a few extra degrees can have a significant impact on the health of their fish and the stability of their ecosystem.
To help your aquarium cope with extreme summer temperatures:
β
Increase aeration and surface movement
β
Monitor water temperatures regularly
β
Keep aquariums away from direct sunlight
β
Avoid overfeeding during heatwaves
β
Stay on top of maintenance and water quality
In our latest video, we explore the science behind why fish struggle when temperatures rise and explain whatβs happening beneath the surface when the weather turns hot.
