Come along between 2.00 and 4.00pm and take a look at the colourful artwork that we have on show. You can ask us all about how we make the work and what inspires us.

If you are a fan of the successful podcast 'artchatter' you will be familiar with the voice of one of the Modern Art Collective artists, Gaynor Leverett-Jaques. Gaynor hosts the podcast with fellow artist - and together they provide listeners with fortnightly window into the working lives of two artists - mixing friendship and art and providing inspiration for artists and art lovers alike. If you have never listened to the podcast, we heartily recommend that you do - it is a great source of information - and very entertaining.

You can meet artchatter's Gaynor Leverett-Jaques at our upcoming MEET THE ARTISTS event at on Saturday 26th October (2-4pm). She will be there with all the Modern Art Collective artists to talk about their artwork and their creative activities.

There are many things that the 8 artists who make up the Modern Art Collective have in common. And here are 3 that we think you might like to know about.

1. We love colour! Take a look at the work that we have up in our current exhibition 'Reimagined/Redefined' and you will see that colour plays a very important role in all of our work. As artists, we use colour in lots of different ways, but the overall effect gives the viewer something exciting to engage with, to explore - and to enjoy.

2. We love to experiment and develop our art processes. Look closely and you will see that we combine processes and materials together in interesting ways. Our work can include paint, print, collage, mark-making and much more. We love to learn and try new ways of working. This is why we were all inspired to take a course called CVP at some point over the last few years (an online course run by an organisation called Art2Life). This course allowed us to explore our art processes - and it brings a common perspective to our creative endeavours.

3. Our art making has often been combined with other roles and responsibilities. As 8 women artists who have all had careers outside the art world - and brought up families - we have not always been able to make art our priority. Our life experiences feed into our creative processes, but sometimes they take up the time that we need to make art! However, we also benefit from the different knowledge and experiences that our previous careers bring to our art. And we love having the support that our families bring to our artistic endeavours.

The Modern Art Collective is a group of 8 artists who share their love for the world though colourful, contemporary artworks. Their inaugural exhibition is now on at - an award winning shop and gallery in the heart of Bristol's Cabot Circus shopping district. You can find out more about each artist by clicking on the links below. We will be sharing lots more about the artists over the course of the exhibition (which runs until 29th October 2024). Final preparations are underway for the Modern Art Collective's new exhibition: Reimagined / Redefined at and we can't wait to welcome you all to see the colourful contemporary artwork on display. The exhibition opens to the public at 10.00am on Friday 18th October. You can get a chance to meet all of the artists on Saturday 19th October and Saturday 26th October. Put it in your diary and we'll see you there!
