🌟 Help Make Open House Possible 🌟

Would you like to join the team at St Anne's House for Open House weekend?

We're looking for friendly volunteers to help welcome visitors, support the various arts and community activities that are happening, invigilate the exhibition spaces and generally support the event to be a success. It's a great way to get involved, meet some lovely people, and spend time at one of Bristol's most creative community spaces.

We're looking for volunteers on:

📅 Saturday 13 June
🕚 11am–6pm (event briefing at 10.30)

📅 Sunday 14 June
🕚 11am–6pm (event briefing at 10.30)

Whether you can help for part of the day or the whole day, we'd love to hear from you. No experience needed.

To get involved, fill in the form below - let us know when you're available and what you're most interested in (community activities, exhibitions, welcoming). We'll aim to get back to you by Wednesday 10th for a chat and with more info.

Come and roll up your sleeves and get stuck in at Open House this June 🏺

Community Pottery Bristol are hosting free Patchwork Tile Making Workshops across the weekend — and every tile made becomes part of something bigger.

Join them on Saturday and Sunday at 12pm and 2pm to make your own ceramic tile from scratch. By the end of the weekend, all the tiles come together into a collaborative installation — a new piece made entirely by the people who walked through the doors. Every guest, every story, every mark.

Free, with donations welcome. No experience needed. Just come and make something 🌿

Saturday 13 & Sunday 14 June, 12pm and 2pm. Community Pottery, St Anne's House, BS4.

St Anne’s Open House is on the streets of Bristol 👀

We’re live on a Brislington billboard in the run-up to the Open House weekend (12–14 June) — free and open to all.

Huge thanks to and their JACK ARTS programme for making it happen. JACK ARTS specialise in creating street campaigns for the cultural sector, supporting galleries, charities and community groups with poster sites across 13 cities in the UK — and we’re so glad to be part of it.

Bring something. Take something. Talk about it over breakfast ☕

On Saturday 13 June at St Anne's Open House, Cibomatto and artist Viki Browne are hosting Barter with Breakfast — a free social exchange in the café!

Bring something food-related: an ingredient, a recipe, something you've cooked, something you have too much of. It just needs to be physical and personal. Cibomatto will have tea and homemade baked goods for everyone taking part, while Viki facilitates the swap and the conversations that come with it — together questioning what we consume, discard, and share.

Open House is about exactly this – opening up St Anne's House to the whole city, and finding out what happens when people come together.

Saturday 13 June, 11am. Free. St Anne's House, BS4 🏠

Cibomatto are the sustainable cuisine project behind the café here at St Anne's House: connecting food, arts, and community through events, workshops, and everyday cooking. Viki Browne is a socially engaged artist and facilitator who makes participatory work with and for communities.

When did you last just... sit somewhere? And feel like you were allowed to?

Alaric Hobbs' They Loved This Spot is coming to the Chipper Room at St Anne's Open House this June – a scorched metal bench rebuilt from found mattress material, ash, daffodil, and ribbon, with a brass plaque linking to a short film of its burning at Turbo Island. A sculpture that's already been through several lives, now opening that process up to the public.

Across the weekend, Alaric is hosting free lolly-stick bench-making workshops – a chance to make something small, think about the benches you've loved and lost, and be part of designing a new community bench that will sit alongside the sculpture itself. Part making session, part conversation about rest, public space, and who the city is really for.

Workshops run Saturday 13 June, 11am–1pm and 2–4pm. No experience needed. All welcome.

The exhibition is open across the full weekend. Free. Chipper Room, St Anne's House, BS4. 🪑

Fancy a workout at Open House? 🏋️

Alongside all the art and studios this June, Bristol Co-operative Gym are throwing open their doors for the weekend – and it's free.

The UK's first co-operative gym has been part of St Anne's House since 2016. A free weights space run by its members, for its members – welcoming, affordable, and genuinely judgement-free. Over 1,000 people have trained here, in a space built around people rather than profit.

Drop in for a free coach-led class with Robin on Saturday or Sunday morning (10.30–11am), or come along for the open gym session on Friday evening (6–8pm).

No experience needed. No membership required!

BS4 Arts Trail returns for its biggest year yet, with 100+ artists and makers opening up homes, studios and community spaces across South East Bristol — and you’ll find St Anne’s Open House as Venue 17 📍

Across the weekend, 15 guest artists will take over the Mill Room with printmaking, painting, jewellery, illustration, publishing and textiles, alongside Briz x Borg x Kelham’s live collaborative mural project for Brislington FC.

But the trail is only part of what’s happening at Open House.

Follow the trail into the building, then stay awhile — explore exhibitions, drop into workshops, grab food and drinks, wander the spaces, meet people, and see what’s unfolding across the weekend!

Bristol throws things away. Duke Mitchels picks them up and makes something extraordinary.

We're excited to announce "Cowboy Builder" as the first exhibition coming to St Anne's Open House this year, showing in the Pulp Room.

Paintings and sculpture built from fly-tipped and salvaged materials found across the south west, borrowing surfaces, colours and forms from debris to ask bigger questions about how we live, what we value, and what we leave behind.

A portrait of contemporary Britain, seen through its waste. A landscape shaped by ambition, neglect, and improvisation.

We'd love to see you there. More from Open House coming soon. 🏚️
