A former Grade II listed Georgian church set within its own secluded gardens, is truly a hidden gem. Classical, Jazz, Folk, Roots, Spoken Word and Family Events take place throughout the year.

This year, St George’s is fifty 🎉

To celebrate 50 years of concerts at St George’s, we’re sharing 50 things from our history, from memorable moments and hidden details in the building to objects that tell a story about our past.

First up: the gold star in our concert hall ⭐

It marks the spot where an incendiary bomb came through the roof during the Bristol Blitz in 1941. Today, we keep the star lit during performances for good luck, and it’s even inspired things like our Star Circle membership and Rising Stars programme.

And yes, we still have the remains of the bomb at St George’s today.

🎈 Balloon Fiesta week is here! 🎈

To celebrate, we’ve got balloon craft pop-ups happening throughout the week in our Café Bar.

Drop in with your little ones from Monday to Friday, 10.30am–3.30pm, get creative and treat yourselves to drinks, cakes and, of course, babyccinos ☕️

And with the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta beginning this Friday, why not watch the evening mass ascent from nearby Brandon Hill, then wander down to St George’s for a post-balloon drink? We’ll be open into the evening! 🍻🎈

The Friday mass ascent is scheduled for 6pm and is weather dependent, so keep an eye on the Balloon Fiesta’s channels for updates.

🌿 Join our volunteer Gardening Team!

Our relaxed gardening club meets on the second Monday of every month, from 9am–11am, helping to keep the St George’s gardens looking their best.

Whether you’re an experienced gardener or a complete beginner, you’ll be very welcome. Tasks may include weeding, planting, watering and general grounds maintenance, with guidance from our Facilities Manager, Bertie, and the team at Just Plants.

It’s a lovely way to start the week with some fresh air, practical activity and good company.

Tools, PPE and refreshments are provided. Over 18s only.
