We are looking for an emerging theatre director, who is passionate about making work with young people, to join the Engagement department as Young Company Director.

In this role you will
🎭 direct two Young Company Shows
🏫 deliver Young Company sessions & two one-week summer schools
⭐ be part of a busy Engagement department in a busy producing theatre
📚 shadow BOV productions & attend literary & programing meetings
🤝 have a creative mentor to support you through the year

WE ARE HIRING

Bristol Old Vic are partnering with Good Chance Theatre to offer an exciting new opportunity for a producer with experience of forced displacement to join our team for five months. This traineeship is offered in partnership with Good Chance’s Stage Door 11 programme.

Stage Door is ’s flagship programme dedicated to creating bespoke paid trainee opportunities for creatives from refugee and asylum-seeking backgrounds. The programme celebrates and nurtures creative industry professionals while addressing the imbalance of opportunities available to people who have been displaced.

The purpose of this role is to work with Bristol Old Vic’s engagement team to produce the National Theatre Connections festival.

We are delighted to announce the cast for the world premiere of Lanny. The play, based on the novel by Max Porter, is adapted by Bea Roberts and directed by Nancy Medina.

Set in a village not far from Bristol, Lanny follows a family newly arrived from the city whose young son awakens the attention of Dead Papa Toothwort, a mythic figure listening from the woods. 🌳🌲 🌳 🌲

👀 A sneak peak inside the rehearsal room for Macbeth, the latest show from Bristol Old Vic’s Young SixSix!

A cautionary tale about the danger of unchecked ambition – where masculinity, power, and violence are bound together and treated as measures of success.

This production of Macbeth is an epic re-imagining that asks what will happen to the ‘new’ world when the next generation inherits these values.

Bristol Old Vic will be closed for business on Sunday 30th and Monday 31st of August for the Summer Bank Holiday. Hours will resume as normal on Tuesday 1st of September.
