Our partnership with Woodland Warrior Programme Hidden Valley Bushcraft forms part of a growing national network of nature-based wellbeing support for the blue light community.

Sometimes stepping away from pressure starts with stepping outdoors. Through woodland activity, bushcraft and shared experience, participants build connection, confidence and resilience in supportive outdoor environments.

Met this crazy trio today as I was out up Swaledale taking photos. They are doing the Coast to Coast as their annual Woodland Warrior "Big Winter Yomp" They had just made it to Keld, having completed around half of the 315 mile trail, battling through waist high snow on the tops of Ravenseat Moor. Nick Goldsmith and Karl Hodder (both to the left) are former Royal Marines, both being injured in overseas action, are doing the challenge and raising money for the Woodland Warrior Programme, which helps promote mental wellbeing through theropeutic outdoor nature based activities such as Bushcraft.

After weeks of careful planning, we were recently joined by a fantastic film crew to craft together something we feel is truly special .

Set to go out later this month to around 3.7 million televisions up and down the country this will be a story not to be missed !

I look forward to sharing more details of this up coming project over the next coming week or so .

DAY 1 of our new 2024 “Community Bee Keeping Project” 🐝 🐝 🐝

Todays sees us inviting both regular faces to the WWP from across our Emergency Services , Armed Forces Veterans and members of our local community to come together as we create the new Hives up at the Woodland Warrior Programme Smallholding .

Assembling and Painting everyone mucked in and despite the cold a great day was had by all 🤝

Huge thanks goes to all who attended and to the various organisations who have supported us getting this relatively new intiative up and off the ground in particular (Foundation) , North Somerset Council (REPF Fund) and .

Budding Bee-Keepers 🐝 and yummy honey 🍯

If you would like to get involved in our new bee hive project based at our small holding in Winford (BS40 8DP) please complete the form via the link below. https://forms.gle/LvtgJFXCR9kJhwkZ6

This is open to all members of our local community (you must be a resident of North Somerset or surrounding counties so BANES / Bristol etc would qualify).

There will be a number of volunteer days where you can get involved in building hives and frames, sowing a new wild flower meadow and learning about bee hive management. There will also be an opportunity take part in the annual honey harvest.
You can get involved in as much or as little as you like in this project. All kit and equipment will be provided and there is no cost for you to attend.

Children need to be 12+ and must be accompanied by an adult. More details will be sent to you once we have confirmed your space on the project.

This project is funded by the UK Government through the Rural England Prosperity Fund and we are very grateful to North Somerset Council for providing the funding for this project.
It is run by The Woodland Warrior Programme but you do not need to be a veteran or member of the blue light community to attend.

We have space for 20 people on this project so please do spread the word for this exciting new project.
