Glaze defects can be frustrating, but it does tell you a lot about what's happening inside your kiln and during your application process...

A common misconception is that glaze defects occur solely because of the glaze itself. However, there are plenty of ways a glaze firing can go slightly off track. The good news? Most defects have a cause. Whether that’s glaze thickness, application, firing schedules, the clay body or the glaze itself.

These beautiful pieces were created by , using our 'Create Your Own Glaze', taking the journey from raw materials to a finished, fired glaze✨

Making your own glaze is more than simply mixing ingredients, it's an opportunity to understand how different raw materials influence the final result. Every gram of feldspar, silica and flux plays a role in how a glaze melts, flows, and interacts with the clay body during the kiln firing.

Our 'Create Your Own Glaze' product promotes experimentation, just without the wasted materials, allowing you to test any glaze recipe from 500g - 2.5kg. We'll simply weigh the exact materials you need, and all you need to do is add water!
