Celebrating 5 years of being !🥳

This week marks five years since Hot Clay became employee owned, and while the structure is important, it’s the people and the culture it’s helped create that we’re most proud of.

For us, employee ownership has always been about giving all members of the team a bigger voice and a real sense of involvement in the business. Over the last five years, we’ve seen staff engagement grow, more ideas being shared, and a stronger sense that everyone has a part to play in where Hot Clay goes next.

It’s also brought some pretty positive changes to working life along the way, including the introduction of 2pm finishes on Fridays, giving the team a little more time for life outside of work, and even designing a brand-new staff room, giving everyone a space to recharge, catch up and spend time together.

Here’s to 5 years of shared ownership, shared ideas and a whole lot of teamwork!🫶

Sometimes the best addition to your studio isn't another glaze, it's a little more knowledge!📚

Our range of ceramics books covers everything from glazing and firing to throwing, hand building and developing your studio skills.

And with 15% off Vitraglaze and 10% off all other glaze brands throughout September, it's the perfect time to pair a little learning with some new things to test👀

Whether you're trying to understand why a glaze behaves the way it does, looking for new combinations to test or simply want some inspiration for your next project, there's plenty to explore under the 'Learning' tab on our website - link in bio!

23/09/2026

This is why we love glaze testing👀🎨

A huge thank you to one of our Vitraglaze Community members for sharing these beautiful results with us!

They’ve been experimenting with layering Vitraglaze, using combinations including Cloudy Blue, Island Turquoise, Reactive White and Rusty Mottle, and we LOVE how much movement and variation has come through after firing!😍

It’s a great reminder that sometimes the best glaze results come from simply trying combinations, changing your application and seeing what happens in the kiln. And now is the perfect time to get experimenting because Vitraglaze is 15% OFF all September!👀

Got a Vitraglaze combination you're loving? We want to see it! Share your Vitraglaze wares with us by tagging or posting them in our Vitraglaze community group. Your test could inspire someone else's next firing!🔥
