Ground Rules is a brand new independent festival built around sound system culture and underground dance music. The crew behind it (think Singularity UK and friends) have spent years collecting their favourite raving moments and poured the lot into one weekend at a proper country estate.

Four stages, bass-heavy rigs, camping, plus workshops, talks, sports and art across the site.
Sounds spanning acid house, jungle, old skool drum and bass, dubstep, hard trance, bassline, bhangra, dub, reggae, ska, soul and funk.

Every other Tuesday, OFFLINE STATE opens the decks to anyone. No bookings, no headliners, you sign up at the door. Last session the form filled in 30 minutes.

Tonight there’s a guest, and she’s not a stranger: 11.9 million people have already heard her. 70+ million views on Youtube.

, from Dhaka, broke through on Coke Studio Bangla (the Bangladesh edition of the same franchise that gave the UK “Pasoori”).

Her track “Long Distance Love” reached the whole South Asian diaspora.

Tonight she’s not singing, she’s DJing. A hyperpop set she’s never played in public: hyperpop, future bass, synth-pop, bubblegum bass, dance-pop, maybe into funk and basslines. One of the few times a Bangladeshi artist has done this in the UK underground.

Tonight! After Session 001 filled the open decks list in the first 30 minutes, OFFLINE STATE returns for Session 002 today from 8pm! Hosted by .ykabir.

This one is focused on soulful, jazzy, disco and funky house.

OFFLINE STATE is open decks, networking and clubnight in one. A space for DJs, collectives, dancers and music lovers to meet, link up, play music, find new people to work with and move together in real life.

There are 5 rooms across the venue, including 1 main sound system room. The night is q***r-focused, but everyone respectful is invited.

OFFLINE STATE / SESSION 001 is a venue for FLINTA, diaspora and immigrant DJs (and everyone who gets why that needed saying) to plug in, play, and find each other.

Open decks. Proper rig. Tuesday 12 May, 8pm til late, at , BS1 1EL. Session 001 is Techno, House, Trance, Electro, Experimental. Next sessions rotate.

Every venue closure, every freelance rate, every grant pot, every meanwhile space. This is the document that shapes how it all goes.
If you’ve ever felt your work goes unseen by this city, this is the moment to put it on the record.

Bristol City Council are running two surveys: one for the general public, one for those working in the arts and cultural sector (organisations, community groups, venues, creative practitioners, freelancers, consultants).
