πŸŽ₯ What happened to the Great Whites of Gansbaai? πŸ”

Once known as the Great White Shark Capital of the World, this South African coastal town faced a dramatic change when its famous sharks disappeared.

At the Shark Town premiere, Richard Peirce takes us into the story of Gansbaai, the sharks that shaped it, and the unexpected toothy arrival that changed everything.

Plus, the evening will also include a screening of the Shark Trust short-documentary Living with Sharks in the Bahamas, followed by a Q&A with filmmaker, Richard Peirce, and Shark Trust CEO, Paul Cox.

Join us for an evening of sharks, science, conservation and a real-life JAWS story.
πŸ“ Bristol Megascreen, Bristol Aquarium, BS1 5TT
πŸ“… Friday 10 July, 7-9pm
🎟 Tickets from £15 (£12.50 for Shark Trust members)

🐠 The chiseltooth cichlid hails from central America. Known for its specialised teeth which it uses to 'chisel' plants and algae from the environment around them. It is a largely peaceful fish and comfortably spends time in groups, so may be your friend if you ask very nicely πŸ’™

πŸ™ Shout out to Lottie who drew Maggie, our previous common octopus, for her GCSE art project!

Lottie got in touch last year to ask for a reference picture of Maggie to use for her course and has recently sent us the fantastic finished piece which is being displayed proudly on the walls of her school art building.

If you fancy creating a piece of art inspired by any of the animals here, please do send them in, we love to see them πŸ’™

Happy World Ocean Day πŸ’™

We get a little silly. But we should never underestimate the importance of our ocean, to both ourselves and all life on earth. πŸ’™

It's easy to feel powerless in the face of climate change but you can still make meaningful changes for your local environment by engaging in community actions in your area. Whether you live in Bristol or further afield. 🐟

If you want to find out which charities and organisations we support visit the conservation page on our website. 🌊
