It’s our 10th birthday and you’re all invited 🎂

Bookings are now open for Cinema Rediscovered, the UK’s leading celebration of newly-restored films, forgotten gems and classic revivals – presented in association with Bristol-based independent brewery Wiper and True.

Rendez-vous Wed 22 to Sun 26 July 2026 at Watershed in and around Bristol, UNESCO City of Film, including a trip to Curzon Cinema Clevedon for Queen Kelly with film historian Pamela Hutchinson, underseen neo-noir Hustle at The Cube Microplex as part of Rogue Hollywood, and a Spectacular Saturday at Bristol Megascreen starting with Joe Dante’s Matinee (1993) and ending with Park Chan-wook's Oldboy (2003)

Following the initial line-up announcement of 70+ screenings and events, we’re delighted to announce Sweet Disaster (1986), a rare 40th anniversary screening of Channel 4’s cult animated shorts programme with Aardman co-founders David Sproxton and Peter Lord, and the UK premiere of La Femme Infidèle (1969), the inspiration for Zvyagintsev's Cannes 2026 Grand Prix winner Minotaur; ahead of BFI Southbank’s upcoming Claude Chabrol: Elements of Crime retrospective in September.

Dive into the Cinema Rediscovered 10th Birthday edition programme, presented in association with Wiper and True.

From Wed 22 to Sun 26 July, the UK’s leading festival of newly restored, rarely screened and recently found cinematic gems returns to venues in and around Bristol, UNESCO City of Film, with a line-up of 70+ screenings and events including 16 UK premieres and the World Premiere of Billy Liar (1963).

Experience all of the festival by picking up a pass, receiving exclusive discounts from our partners and sponsors. Individual tickets are now open for Club Shed members, with general release available from the beginning of June.

Opening the festival is the UK Premiere of a new 4K restoration for Mario Bava’s pop-art masterpiece Danger: Diabolik (1968), with a video introduction from Edgar Wright, launching our Comics Come Alive season.

Marking its 50th anniversary, the UK premiere for the 4K restoration of Elaine May’s Mikey and Nicky (1976) is the centrepiece of the Rogue Hollywood season, featuring a rare 35mm print of Looking for Mr. Goodbar (1977) and a leather-clad Al Pacino in Cruising (1980).

Further restorations include: Nicolas Cage’s Oscar-winning performance in Leaving Las Vegas (1995); My Brother’s Wedding (1983), with a pre-recorded introduction from director Charles Burnett; Arundhati Roy’s debut screenplay In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones (1989), restored by Martin Scorsese’s Film Heritage Foundation; singular jazz singer and activist Dolly Rathebe in African Jim; and closing the festival is In The Soup (1992), a black-and-white, offbeat comedy, that gave legendary character actor Steve Buscemi one of his first leading roles.
