HELLO!


It's been a while since I posted. Fret not - I am still alive and the business is still very much trading!

In fact, Christmas was incredible for us - including the launch of Climatopoly (thank you to everyone who was bought so far! Just this week it has come back in stock on our website - do go and check it out!) and our Vegan Christmas Crackers (with which we raised £300 for Noo Beginnings Animal Sanctuary!).

I've taken most of January off to recuperate from a hectic Christmas period, but I'm starting to ramp things up again with the design and development of our next game.

Suffice to say that this one is, well, a little different.

Some of you have seen and mentioned ALGEBRAIN to me already, as I usually have the prototype displayed on my table at markets. In short, it's a learning aide designed to teach secondary school students (high school, for those not in the UK) how to solve algebraic equations.

This is a collaboration between my two businesses - This Is Not A Game & ROAR Education Ltd (my day job as a maths & science tutor). Go and follow ROAR Maths if interested to find out more details!

A behind-the-scenes of this week's creation... launching at Manchester Vegan Market alongside Climatopoly (in the flesh - huzzah!) this weekend!

Make sure you've placed your preorders online to ensure you get a set of Vegan Christmas Crackers before we run out.

Our Crackers are 100% plastic-free, with eco-friendly & delicious-smelling gifts inside - and we're donating proceeds from the Crackers towards Noo Beginnings Animal Sanctuary, too.

P.S. I meant it when I said they smell DELICIOUS - get 'em now!

CHRISTMAS IS UPON US!

Welcome to rainy Chester, the city of dreams! We’ll be here from 10.30am-4pm for our first market of the season.

To those waiting on Climatopoly, they should be posted out to you THIS WEEK, now that a few print errors have been rectified and packaging is nearing completion.

Alternatively, if you’re a Christmas cracker wannabe, we’re assembling these over the next fortnight, and are pleased to confirm that we’ve partnered with Noo Beginnings - each box of Christmas crackers sold donates £5 to the sanctuary!

Apologies for my radio silence of late - getting married and being full-time self-employed with my other business has really eaten into my time, but we’re back with a bang this Christmas with many a new launch.

How it started vs. How it’s going now.

has been a real friend to our brand.

We launched at VCO last year as a ‘roaming trader’ - the only one, after I asked nicely if I could just bring a tray and some cards since I didn’t have the funds for a stall.

Last year we sold 227 of our 500 decks of cards immediately and the business was profitable from day 1 (well, day 4) as a result.

Since then, we’ve used the investment from the beautiful VCO crowds to take the business further and further - developing expansion packs, launching a book, and even now a boardgame called Climatopoly just last week.

Again, we didn’t quite have the funds to come as a traditional stall - since we invested everything into scaling our product lines - but we’ve nonetheless managed to upgrade our spot from a simple usherette tray to an entire flower cart!

We’ve also built partnerships with brilliant brands like , and their stuff has been flying off our shelves.

This weekend has been another fantastic one, and I’ve been overwhelmed by the interest people have shown our fledgling game store on a rickety cart!

Over the next 12 months, I’ll be scaling our business even further, and I hope that by next year I won’t have quite so much walking to do when I come back to VCO - the spiritual home of .

We’ll always love - and can’t wait to finish off with a bang today!

I’ll be heading home at midday Sunday, but the stall will keep rolling (literally!) until about 6 o’clock this evening. Unfortunately I can’t be here tomorrow as I’m getting married(!) - so make sure you swing by and pick up your year’s worth of vegan gaming goods before we pack up!
