✨ Spotlight on Hype Dance Company at Trinity Bristol ✨
For almost 23 years, HYPE DANCE COMPANY BRISTOL has been helping young people across Bristol to build confidence, discipline and belief through dance. Led by founder Natasha Benjamin, HYPE (Helping Young People Excel) has become a vital part of the city’s creative and community landscape.
At Trinity, we’re proud to be the long‑standing home of Hype, as space where children and young people can find belonging, ambition and opportunity through dance.
Thanks to the generous support of BBC Children in Need and Bristol City Council’s Youth & Play Network, we’ve been able to offer 20 subsidised places each year for the past three years, removing financial barriers for families affected by the cost‑of‑living crisis. These places have enabled young people to access regular training, performance opportunities, and a supportive community that many describe as a second family.
The legacy of this programme speaks for itself:
✅ 98% of Hype students progress into further education
✅ Former dancers now work professionally across the UK and beyond
✅ Young people grow into confident leaders, role models and mentors
As Natasha Benjamin puts it:
“I truly love what I do and feel grateful that I’ve been able to make a positive impact on young people’s lives. Seeing their growth and confidence is what makes it all worthwhile.”
We’re grateful to our funders for helping sustain this work, and proud of the long-standing partnership that allows Hype Dance Company to continue supporting young people in Bristol.
