Scallywag Productions

Scallywag Productions Immersive theatre, walkabout actors and general event-based entertainers

Scallywag productions is the brainchild of Jos Banham, a professional creative and technologist hailing from the deep, dark depths of the North Norfolk countryside, now residing in Bristol. Brought kicking, screaming and thrusting into the world in 2014 and described as what happens when 'theatre meets rave', Scallywag Productions seek to bring outrageous experiences to audiences that are not easily offended.

We have an update about WOMAD Festival 2025 to share with you all:

After a hugely successful 42nd year, over which time we have put on over 300 festivals around the world, we are pleased to announce that WOMAD is moving to a new home, not far from our site for the past 17 years in Wiltshire. To ensure that the festival can continue to thrive for years to come in our new location, we have decided to take a year off in 2025 before returning fully charged in 2026.

WOMAD, like many festivals and events, has seen some challenges post covid and we are now engaged in the process of re-evaluating, regenerating and reinvigorating everything we do - and where we want to go in the future. We’re delighted to say we’ll be announcing our new plans over the next few weeks.

Over the next 12 months we are full steam ahead with a number of WOMAD festivals around the world including WOMADelaide, WOMAD New Zealand and WOMAD Cáceres with plans for further events in Las Palmas, Brazil and Chile, as well as exploring a special UK event for next year to deliver a taste of the unique WOMAD experience– hopefully to be announced in the coming weeks.

We want to send a massive "Thank You" to all of the brilliant staff at Charlton Park who made us feel welcome for the last 17 years, pulling us out of many sticky situations (quite literally, on those rainy weekends!). We couldn’t have done what we did without you.

Also, to the fabulous community in Malmesbury, Charlton, and all the surrounding villages for whom we created a few days of disruption each year. You have always responded positively and embraced WOMAD, welcoming us into your community and working with us in so many ways.

Finally, thank you to all of the Festival-Goers, Artists, Crew, Contractors, Volunteers, and Traders who make WOMAD possible, a treasure in the festival calendar and a vital contribution to bringing communities together from all over the world to celebrate diversity and tolerance through Music, Arts, Dance, and Culture.

We look forward to welcoming you all to our new site in 2026.

Balter Festival will be having a final blow out next year. So sad to see another one go but wow, what a crazy ride it’s been! Make sure you get your tickets when they’re released - this is definitely not one to miss! 🖤

Dear Balter Family,

We have had an unforgettable ride, but the time has come for us to announce that the next Balter Festival will be the last.

When we launched Balter back in 2014 with just 800 attendees and 4 stages, we never imagined it would still be running 11 years later, let alone be the beautiful chaotic utopia it has become today. We have an amazing team and a fiercely loyal community, and for that, we are truly grateful.

Over the past decade, we’ve been fortunate to host some of our favourite artists from all over the world and witness thousands of beautiful faces creating the unique, silly, colourful vibe that defines Balter. The energy, creativity, participation and connection from all of you is what has made this festival so special, and for that we’re forever thankful and proud!

We've faced the same challenges as many events since 2020, overcoming significant difficulties to keep the festival alive. Now we are in the position where with one more big year, we can wrap things up on a positive note and give Balter the send-off it deserves.

This way, we get to go out with a bang rather than fizzle out! The final Balter, on the bank holiday weekend of 22nd-25th May 2025, really will be our biggest and best yet. Whether you’ve been with us from the start or have yet to truly be Baltered, this is your chance to be part of our history.

Tickets go on sale in two weeks: Wednesday, 30th October at 7pm. Don’t miss out - we can't wait to celebrate one last time with all of you! Tickets are limited so get in there early as this one is certainly going to be a sellout!

Thanks for making this journey possible.

With all our love,
The Balter Team ❤️

Das ist TRASHION! Thank you for offering up your crowd so our talent scouts could search for ’s Next Top Model. We found a few potentials but they were all just too trashy in the end 🖤 🗑️
