Every year University of Lancashire runs a Hermeneutical Phenomenology course through July for PhD students and researchers, run by 2 exceptional geniuses.

This is our director, Emma’s second time attending the course because there is just such a lot to learn! HP explores the thingness of a thing through peoples lived experiences, it really fits with what we do at ForMed in sharing experiences, but it also adds a much deeper layer in adding philosophical study and interpretation - reading Heidegger, Godamer, Merleau Ponty and the Van Manen’s to name a few. It is a fascinating study and has filled Emma’s brain so much that she needs a week off.

ForMed turned 11 in January, and we forgot to post this BRILLIANT card from our talented dear friend and composer

Hugh is a huge genius and as well as a great friend to Director Emma - they met as kindred spirits in and quickly became Bff’s. Hugh has made all of the music for our films, and also directed ‘A Weight’ - a film about Dads Mental Health with for (and lots of excellent films and illustrations that you can find at UncleGinger.com).

The illustration is based on Emma’s work trip to Arizona last year - walking to the shops along the freeway she got stuck to a cactus somehow and it took a good few minutes to detangle!

The photo was a lovely surprise at Christmas, when both ended up on the same train to the North to see family and have impromptu picnic together!

16 years ago yesterday we went to the BAFTA’S and won!
The film was a celebration of midwifery and childbirth and ForMeds founder, Emma’s amazing mum, Pam, a midwife in for 30 years. It took Emma 9 months to make ‘Mother of Many’ for and with the support of and - it was her first film in 10 years, and it is how began
