We are a Bristol-based ceilidh band, available for bookings in Bristol and the surrounding area, and sometimes travelling further afield. We have a large repertoire of English, Irish, Scottish and other traditional music, which we play at ceilidhs and barn dances. It goes without saying that we like to play jigs. But of course, we like playing reels, polkas, hornpipes, waltzes etc. For further information please visit the website

Did you get to a Burns Night this year? If you weren't really quick at getting a ticket you wouldn't have been able to get to our Burns Night ceilidh at the church hall, St Peters Church, Henleaze, Bristol - it was was a sell out! Plenty of tartan, loads of haggis (including gluten free and veggie!), neeps and tatties, and loads of brilliant dancers. The haggis was paraded around the room, addressed and killed in the time honoured way. A memorable evening for all. Make sure you get to one next year! Watch our two videos for a real taste of the great music played and the pure joy of those dancing feet!

A fortieth birthday party and ceilidh for friends of the band! Years ago Jig Mad Wolf were booked to play for a ceilidh at the couple's wedding in deepest Somerset and they have been organising ceilidhs ever since, to celebrate lots of different events. St Bonaventure's Hall is great for dancing with a lovely large floor space and the dancers, including many children, were on their feet all evening. What a wonderful lively crowd they were, we're all looking forward to the next one...…..!! If you listen carefully to the tunes played on the video you'll see that the band sneaked in a pre Christmas tune, and the crowd joined in by singing! It fitted in well with the polkas

Well, Jig Mad Wolf have ventured over the old Severn Bridge to new pastures and travelled to Woolaston Hall, a lovely venue (recently built), for a St Andrew's Day ceilidh. The hall was wonderfully decorated by the village hall team, spot the flags on the photographs! Plenty of tartan in evidence: kilts, skirts, dresses, shirts and scarves, even a sporran. Everyone contributed to a warm and friendly, happy atmosphere and danced their socks off!

In one video the band are playing The Blaydon Races for a dance of the same name. Any Geordies would know this as a song! The second video has a 'thread the needle' movement linked to the name of the dance, Weavers Galopede. Have a look! Ceilidh to be repeated next year???

Have you ever been to the Southbank Centre in Bedminster, Bristol? It is a lovely community centre and just the right size for a 30th birthday party. All of the guests were full of energy and very exciting to watch as they danced to Jig Mad Wolf playing their wonderful music. Under the arches in one dance and then watch out as the ladies are lifted off their feet during the 'basket' movement in the dance called Cumberland Square Eight. If you watch the three videos you'll get a real sense of the fabulous evening everyone was having! Can't wait until we're asked to play again for these brilliant dancers.

A wonderfully colourful and energetic evening was spent at Ashton Court Mansion House, for a recent wedding party with Jig Mad Wolf. See the bride and groom in the photos dancing their first dance beautifully; the bride designed and made her own lovely dress for the occasion. If you watch the first video (listed below) carefully you'll see the dancers made a mistake and, with very fast running, managed to catch up! The second video is The Bear Dance, which is an dance originating in Flanders and is known there as Beredans, lots of fancy footwork involved. Our last video is worth viewing - Jolly Roger - with an unusual circle arrangement halfway through the dance - the inner circle surprisingly didn't get tickled! See what you're missing if you don't get out and go to a ceilidh!

Another October ceilidh was a birthday celebration in the village of Ubley in Somerset. It was a real family affair, with adults and children of all ages taking part in the ceilidh dancing. If you watch carefully on the video (link below) you will spot the youngest dancer, carried on the back of Mum whilst she dances! Start them young and they'll love ceilidh dancing all their lives we say. A lovely afternoon for everyone, and it brightened up the gloomy weather outside!

In October we were out to Bradley Stoke for our annual ceilidh for the Aztec West Rotary Club. You'll see from the two videos (do have a look by clicking on the links below) that there are some very lively and enthusiastic dancers enjoying the music. Caller Vicky is great at getting everyone on their feet with her clear instructions. In the first video, dancing in a rings of four in the Trip to the Cottage dance is just one part of a complicated sequence of movements and then a second great video of Old Swan Gallop - do swans gallop??? Do they look like swans galloping?? A wonderful evening with an excellent supper provided.

Jig Mad Wolf by the side of the River Avon! Our ceilidh was for a lovely couple's wedding ceilidh and took place in BeesesTea Gardens in Brislington, Bristol. The happy couple arrived at the venue with their guests by boat. One of the photos is of the couple, just as they were getting ready to start the first dance. The band looking their usual cheerful selves, concentrating on getting the music just right. Lose concentration and the notes may not necessarily be played in the right order! It was a wonderful evening with all the guests willingly joining in and having a great time. Just perfect for us all.

Another summer wedding Ceilidh, this time at Beeses (Tea Gardens), right by the river Avon!
