“Once you add your emotions into a script scenario, there’s a kind of detachment from what you’re experiencing…which for me was very beneficial because I was then able to tiptoe into my grief and tiptoe out of it when it became too much.”

Writer and performer Kirris Riviere talks to director Nir Paldi about his process of creating Pieces of My Life, and how journaling and scripting his story became a means of engaging with the grief he felt after losing his mum.

With his signature warmth and resilience, Kirris explores some of his most vulnerable moments through the lens of the play, and looks at how creativity can allow us to grapple with our difficult experiences in different ways.

Pieces of My Life premieres at To***co Factory Theatres on 8th September 2026, and tours to the South West, Hampshire and the Midlands in September and October.

What does it take for artists and creative communities to thrive in Bristol?

A few weeks ago, we welcomed artists, creatives and cultural practitioners into our new studio space to have conversations about a new Cultural Strategy for Bristol.

Together, we explored the realities of making creative work in Bristol today: the opportunities, the challenges, the spaces and support that are needed, and the priorities that should shape the city's cultural future.

The conversations didn't end with the discussion. Each artist also created written, visual, audio and filmed responses that captured their experiences and ideas. These will be shared with Bristol City Council as part of the development of a new 10-year Cultural Strategy for Bristol.

Thank you to everyone who contributed their voice, creativity and vision. Meaningful cultural policy starts with listening, and we're proud to have hosted these important conversations.
