CAB ROAD TUNNEL: We Are Warriors at Brighton Festival

🚊 Located beneath Brighton train station, Cab Road Tunnel is soon to be home to In Between Time's sound and light installation 'We Are Warriors'. Along the Victorian cobbled, sloping road that once carried horse-drawn carriages up to Platform 7, a rarely seen world is reawakened.

🔉 Here, echoes, roars and whispers gather in the dim light, and the tunnel becomes a vessel for collective memory and presence.

💡 Each visitor is invited to create and place a light in tribute to someone who has been lost or silenced. As the lights and voices accumulate, the dark space transforms into a sanctuary.

We Are Warriors opens in the Cab Road Tunnel on Monday 11 May 2026 as part of Brighton Festival, presented in partnership with videoclub and Dreamy Place, and continues until Sunday 25 May 2026

TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT: 'We Are Warriors' travels to Brighton this May 💡

We’re thrilled to be part of 2026 for its 60th Edition! Find us and many more artists in the just announced programme at brightonfestival.org

WE ARE WARRIORS
We Are Warriors is an immersive sound and light installation created by In Between Time and led by over 100 women, girls, trans and non-binary people. Each visitor is invited to create and place a light in tribute to someone who has been lost or silenced, transforming dark spaces into beacons of sanctuary.

We are backing the bid for UK City of Culture 2029. Why? Because we believe in a future where creativity is for everyone and joy is at the heart of our city.

This is just the start. While the initial stage moved fast, the future of the bid belongs to you. In line with the Bristol City Council Co-Creation Policy, if successful the next phase the bid will be built in partnership with the people who make Bristol what it is.

🎉 ANNOUNCEMENT: In Between Time has received National Lottery funding through Arts Council England to tour We Are Warriors in 2026!

We are delighted to announce that we have received funding to tour our artwork ‘We Are Warriors’ internationally, starting in early 2026 ✨

Made in and by the people of Bristol, this site-specific sound and light installation will travel to underground bunkers in Latvia, tunnels beneath Brighton, community spaces in Sydney, and back home again to Weston-super-Mare. Through workshops, performances, and community gatherings, together we will grow this global chorus and push the dark away.

At a time when making, producing, and supporting live art feels so precarious, it is a great feeling to be able to share this good news with you all. Thank you to everybody who has been with us on the 25 year journey of In Between Time—your support means the world ❤️

Diasporas Now seeks proposals for performances that embody the themes of 𝘔𝘢𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘮𝘪𝘤 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴, working with live art mediums that span performance art, dance, visual art, and experimental music

Six successful applicants will each receive £1050, a chance to tour their performances (across London and Bristol or Nottingham) with tailored AV, production, marketing, and curatorial support – facilitated by live art community and cultural agency Diasporas Now

About 𝘔𝘢𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘮𝘪𝘤 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴:

Diasporas Now’s 2025-2026 tour theme 𝘔𝘢𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘮𝘪𝘤 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴 combines ancestral practices with new technologies as tools of divination toward preferred futures – rescripting interconnected narratives from the microcosm of our embodied realities to the macrocosm of our political and ecological landscapes

How can we relate to ourselves, to each other, and to more-than-human consciousness, when we centre values outside the historical trajectories of colonialism and capitalist extraction? What rituals can we co-create as future ancestors in the face of planetary transformation?

🌳 We are pleased to announce that artists Kristina Veasey and Alejandro Ahmed are taking their artwork 'Capturing the Forest' to Liberty Festival at Battersea Arts Centre this September!

As disabled artists, Veasey and Ahmed created 'Capturing the Forest' to explore accessible routes into nature while immersing you in the landscape.

Produced by In Between Time, this artwork is their tribute to the forest, inspired by the experiences of those who love the natural world but may not be able to visit it.

Broadmeadow is a free wildflower installation and sound experience that brings back the nature, smells and sounds that used to thrive where our bustling shopping centre now sits.

🪺 "It felt like a balm of hope... I asked my son how he felt when he walked into the garden and he said 'welcome'."

🕊️ "My daughter and I both found the installation very interesting and it sparked lots of conversation between us. That was also my first visit to Tyntesfield and the installation has certainly found itself a very splendid home for the summer!”
